One of my favorite bars in the world, literally!
I wish there were more stars to give. 5 is simply an injustice.
I had been here about 10 years ago. So with drunk memory, I made my way back. I wandered the city alone at night for about 2 hours trying to find it. But well worth it. I actually got like 90% of my sight seeing in. Tretters is located just outside of the tourist trap area. And being near the touristy areas, don't that fool you. This is a local bar. When I was there a lot of the patrons were local servers that had just gotten off their shifts. Again, don't let the fact that local servers go here let you think different about the quality. This is a true mixology establishment.
The bartenders take their craft very seriously. Fresh juices, home made mixers, fancy garnish and flare. Oh my! Every drink was made just for you. To come in and order a just a shot or beer would be a disservice to yourself. Not that beer is bad. I'm a vodka on the rocks kind of guy. But it was really nice seeing and taking the whole process in. I highly recommend just telling one of the bartenders some flavors you like and let them make you something.
My body may be back in the states, but my heart stayed in...
Read moreTretter’s seems like the most crowded and the busiest of the Prague bars listed here, and reservations are clearly recommended. We managed to snatch the last two bar stools at about 10pm the last time we went there. People who came in later had to stand by the bar.
Tretter’s is a happy place: an uptempo oldies playlist is blasted fairly loud and people clearly come here to have fun and reunite with friends. It seems to be a very popular place for birthday parties and other social events. Admittedly, Tretter’s can have the feel of a “meat market”, which can be a bad or a good thing, depending on what you are looking for. Needless to say, the drinks are tasty, and Tretter’s is the place to go if you want a taste of “Prague nightlife”.
Tretter’s Club -drink with hockey players and celebrities
It’s the swank hang out for high-worth individuals and professional sports players. Don’t be surprised to see Czech celebs and your favorite Czech hockey players at this bar, smoking cigars and drinking high-end cocktails. The barstaff is well versed in cocktails which means if you want it, and it’s obscure, they can probably make it. Prices are similar to cloud 9, but with out the...
Read moreI would give this bar a zero if I can. My partner and I walked in around 7:10pm to grab a casual drink before our dinner, on our immediate arrival, the waiter approached us and ask if we have made an reservation, we said no; keep in mind the bar was completely EMPTY at this point, there is a long bar with seats (all seats available) and few other standalone tables; out of maybe eight tables, there was three tables that had the reserve sign. After finding out we had made no reservation, the waiter hesitated, spoke to his manager and came back to us and said you can sit at the table infront of the door for an hour.
We wanted to leave at this point but decided to stay due to other good reviews we have seen online. We ordered our drink (two cocktails) and honestly, we were shocked; we thought they were...
