The worst restaurant experience in all my life so far! Do not go to this place, it’s a tourist trap! It all started with a waiter who was drunk when taking our orders. He didn’t take our orders properly as he was not even able to understand what we are ordering. I ordered steak with a side dish but they didn’t bring me the side dish at all. Other girls ordered either fried potatoes or french fries but istead they brought us untasty mashed potatoes for which we didn’t ask at all. We waited for our food for almost two hours (and it was not crowded). Needless to day that the steak was awful as it seems that it was taken out of the freezer and cooked. The most interesting part of the evening came at the end when we needed to pay for everything. As we didn’t get what we ordered, we refused to pay for the side dishes which we didn’t get at all. One of the waitress got pretty angry and said no, that we need to pay because we got all the side dishes. So we were arguing for that for a pretty long time and then I just wanted to go away from this awful place and she run to the restaurant front doors and LOCKED THE RESTAURANT AND DIDN’T LET US OUT AND TOLD US THAT SHE WILL NOT LET US OUT UNTIL WE PAY. She even grabbed my teammates hand so she won’t leave the restaurant. Word by word and finally she let us out. The evening was totally ruined. That was just unbelievable… the worst customer service what I have seen in my life. Please do not go to This place!!!!!

And yes, they add to the bill extra 30 krones for each person for the starter we even didn’t ask and didn’t know that we will have to pay extra 300 krones for 10 people.

If I would have an option, I would definitely put them no stars at all. They even do not...

tl;dr Terrible service. Canned food. Stay away. We said "hi, thank you" and "please" in the local language and ordered in English, which the waiter said he could comprehend.

We ordered drinks and asked if they could make the desert pancake savory instead of sweet so it could serve as the main dish for the 8 year old. This was not an option. We understand so no problem there. We ordered the toasted bread with herbal butter for the little one instead, two main courses for us plus two side dishes of boiled potatoes with butter.

The drinks came, one glass still had lipstick on it. They did replace this but did not offer an apology. Followed by some bread and a small bowl of peanut butter smelling stuff. Not the toasted bread we ordered. Next they brought my dish with vegetables that looked like they came straight from a can and were heated in the microwave. Next came the desert pancake which we didn't order. When we politely mentioned this the waiter sighed, did not apologize and instead said we did order it, adding that they didn't even have toasted bread on the menu. When I pointed to the toasted bread in their menu again, still no apology came!

I believe myself to be a reasonable person and will forgive small oversights and mishaps. In this case however the way the staff handled the situation was way below par. That is why I would advise you to stay away...

We have eaten here twice as a family (our kid is 5 - 8 years old) and have had great experiences both times! Guests should visit this restaurant for what it offers - hearty, meat-heavy, traditional Czech dishes served in a clean, (stereo)typical homey Czech pub-style setting. We speak German and English as a family and had no problems communicating with the staff in either language. Our main courses (gulash in a bread bowl, the Hussar skewers, duck with bohemian dumplings) were delicious, warm, and freshly prepared. Apple strudel and ice cream for dessert were tasty, down-to-earth, and left us adults with fond memories of our respective childhoods. With the bread starter, main courses, beers and sodas, dessert, and digestifs for three our bill ran in total 1838 kc // approx. 76€. The restaurant is centrally located, literal steps away from the old town square. Anyone who has ever traveled anywhere outside of their own village should know that the prices in city centers are generally a touch higher than in the outskirts; that being said the prices here are extremely reasonable in comparison with the "Instagram-famous" restaurants which Prague had to offer. If you are looking for a relaxed, laid back and homestyle atmosphere with cold beer, hot Czech food, and friendly service, then you can't go wrong here! Thanks for the lovely evenings Staromácek, we'll see...

TOURIST TRAP! This place at first looked like it was only slightly more costly than other spots in Prague. In the end, with all the extra fees, this was by far the most expensive meal during our stay in Czechia. I added about 1/5 of a bottle of chilli sauce (they charge extra for spice and bread) to my goulash before there was any hint of taste. Despite this, I was still the lucky one, I took the goulash in a pot, the two who chose the in-bread version ran out of food in a few spoonfuls. Oh, and don't even think about eating that bread, my pot would've been preferable. After the meal was finished, the tab arrived, after our initial shock was over, a waitress we'd never seen before came and asked for a tip. Stay away, there is excellent goulash in Prague at the same price point at much nicer places. There's also better goulash, service.. You name it, at lower prices at a walking distance.

We have been in Prague for several days. Were Hungary and just happened to be walking by and stopped in. Great little restaurant. Atmosphere was awesome. Felt like you were sitting in the kitchen of your aunt from the old. Country. Food was the best we had the entire trip so far. Potato soup was delicious. I had the “Meat Pin” which was a skewer with four different types of meat and some vegetables. The meat was seasoned so well and cooked perfectly. It arrived with the juices dripping down onto the plate. So delicious. Followed it up with some schnapps which was recommended by our waitress Polina. So she walked out with a giant glass and lights the schnapps on fire, while spinning the glass. Quite a demonstration and a great end to a fabulous meal. Definitely make a point to go here. You will not be disappointed. 🙂

DO NOT EAT THE BREAD. We have arrived to the restaurant and have been offered bread. Our bill was topped up in the end with 90!!! Kr for dry, tastless basket of bread... We have ordered a goulash in bread. Waiter came out with normal goulash and said its the same as the one we ordered. We needed to ask a few times for our dish to be changed. Ribs were full of fat and barely had any meat! Duck was dry and chewy. Do not recommend this place! High prices, absolutely no quality service, average food quality and foolish aftertaste after you've been charged for every snack that has not been offered to you... Awful experience overall!
