I saw “pollo a la huancaína” (huancaína chicken) on the board outside the restaurant entrance and it made me curious (Peruvians will understand) as we don’t have such dish. I told my friends about the huancaína sauce and they were curious to try some Peruvian dish. Once we checked the menu inside, they also had pisco sour so I wanted to try it and see if it tasted any similar to the Peruvian recipe. My friend and I ordered the huancaína potatoes from the menu. Unfortunately it seems we were the last 2 dishes, because when we received the dish, there was barely any huancaína sauce on them. My friend’s dish had even less sauce than mine. The potatoes also had persil (this is not the Peruvian recipe) and no lettuce or egg on top like it’s always eaten. There was no “in our style” written in the menu so we were expecting the original recipe or at least something close to it. One of my other friends wanted to order the dish and was told that “they had no more of the huancaína sauce”. If they already knew this, they should’ve let us know before preparing the 2 dishes we had ordered. The pisco sour we had also ordered had a questionable taste. It was even served with ice cubes, which we never do with this drink. Again no “pisco sour in our style” written anywhere in the menu. One of my friends ordered the tacos and they had a bland taste, which was also surprising considering (at the moment I write this review) that the restaurant has 4.5 stars rating and everyone comments that the food is great. As a Peruvian, I’m extremely disappointed at how you advertise our gastronomy and cuisine, and what the customer receives as dish/drink.

La Casa Blu in Prague offers a unique dining experience that blends Mexican, Tex-Mex, and South American cuisines. This restaurant is located in the Stare Mesto (Old Town) of Prague, just a short distance from the Zidovske Muzeum v Praze. It's a popular spot, ranking #10 among Mexican restaurants in Prague and #438 out of 4,701 restaurants in the city. The food at La Casa Blu is known for its large portions and delicious flavors. The menu features an eclectic mix of Mexican, Tex-Mex, and South American dishes, with a leaning towards Tex-Mex. Some of the highlights include their nachos, which are noted for their generous size, and the chili con carne, which has received positive remarks for its taste. The atmosphere of La Casa Blu adds to its appeal. It's a place where the vibe is lively, and the service is commendable. The staff is friendly and proficient in English, making it a comfortable spot for international visitors. In terms of pricing, the restaurant is reasonably affordable, with a price range of $7 to $16. It offers a variety of cuisines including Mexican, Latin, and Central American, along with a bar. This makes it a versatile dining option for various occasions, whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or just some drinks and snacks. Overall, La Casa Blu stands out for its fusion of flavors, generous portions, and friendly service, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a blend of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisines in the heart of Prague.

I recently visited "La Casa Blu" with my colleagues and had a great experience. The restaurant offers delicious Latin American dishes that left us impressed. The atmosphere was perfect for a casual hangout with friends or colleagues. The service was exceptional, with a friendly and efficient lady attending to our needs promptly. It's always a delight when the staff makes you feel welcomed and valued. Overall, dining at "La Casa Blu" was a pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a taste of Latin American cuisine in the heart of Prague's Old Town. Additionally, I must mention that the portion sizes at "La Casa Blu" were quite generous. We were pleasantly surprised by the ample amount of food served, which made the dining experience even more satisfying. You won't leave hungry after enjoying their flavorful Latin American dishes.

If you're looking for microwaved meals and bustling waitstaff, this is the place!

This review has two segments: one pertains to my today's experience (which made me angry), and the other relates to the overall experience with this restaurant.

  1. Today at 4:55 PM, I stopped by your restaurant. Since I was in a hurry for a meeting, I politely asked the waitress how long it would take to prepare a chicken quesadilla. She went to the kitchen and told me it would take 7 minutes, so I placed my order (order placed at 4:59 PM). I went out to have a smoke for those 7 minutes and returned to the same spot where I had ordered the quesadilla. After waiting for 10 more minutes, a waiter came up to me and said they didn't have my order and asked what I had ordered. I repeated my order and also mentioned that I had already paid. The waiter checked and said, "Okay." I thought everything was fine, just taking longer than expected.

Around 5:30 PM, the waiter came to me with a bag that didn't come directly from the kitchen. This bag had been on a table few tables away since 5:10 PM. After 10 minutes (5:20 PM) on that table with different customers, they had picked up the bag and placed it on another table which was empty. The waiter only noticed it at 5:30 PM brought it to me and wished me a good meal.

I brought the quesadilla to my office, and it was already in a poor state. However, what awaited me inside the box was astonishing. For 250 CZK (including the packaging), I received an unevenly sliced quesadilla with cheese which have been microwaved (the texture of the cheese gave it away). It's a shame that I wasn't aware of these circumstances right from the start when I spoke to the server about the 7-minute wait. I wouldn't give you a tip of 40 CZK, or maybe I wouldn't have ordered at all.

I understand that you have a lot to handle with just three staff members, but this isn't my problem. I have a completely different expectation for a meal costing 290 CZK with tip.

Thank you for the great experience. Next time I pass by, I might just throw the quesadilla back to you through the window ;)

  1. I primarily visit this place only around noon for their lunch menu. Their tea is diluted with water, and the soup is usually tasteless. The main dishes on the lunch menu are good and reasonably priced (been here like 50 times).

Hence, I recommend going to this place only during the lunch menu, when you won't mind waiting for a while or receiving cold or microwaved food.

If I may suggest, there's another restaurants around.

Wish u...
