We had tried to get in a few days before but it was fully booked. Therefore we made a reservation for a few days later on the last night of our stay.
When we arrived, the waiter couldn't locate our booking and so I had to show him the email confirmation on my phone. After a few minutes he took us to a table. The evening started off well. We had our order for food and drinks taken within good time. The lady gave us fresh bread and olive oil whilst we were waiting for our food to come, which was absolutely delicious. The starter (smoked salmon rolls) was divine and really well presented.
It was at the main course where things started to go wrong. We received our food not long after the starter had been taken away. I had the pork belly and my partner had the crispy chicken thigh. The lady who brought our food took my partners empty beer glass and asked if he wanted another, to which he said he did. We enjoyed our meals overall and the portions were of a good size. My only criticism of the pork belly dish was that it was incredibly salty. I asked a waitress for a jug of tap water as she passed us by, and she said that's fine I will get one. Over 15 minutes passed and no jug of water had been given. At this point I had to stop eating my pork belly dish. I asked our original server as she went by for the water jug again, and to also chase up my partners beer. Another 5 minutes passed and they bought a jug of water, for us to only then realised upon drinking that it was sparkling water.
Again we had to call the waitress over when she passed and explain that we'd asked for tap water and not sparkling water. She then took my plate away from me, not asking if I had finished eating, and when my partner was still eating his. I was waiting for the water to come to wash away the salty taste before I ate anymore. At this point we were getting fed up as it was ruining our meal, which was sad as it had started off so well.
Once we had drank the water and my partner had finished the meal, we asked for the bill. This is when we discovered they had charged us for the second beer that we never received! We eventually had to go up to prompt to pay as no one came to us. The lady did apologise for the delay and took off the beer, although she did seem a bit annoyed about this (but we hadn't received the product?!).
It is such a shame as food was pretty good but the service really...
Read moreA honest review from a foodie/gastronomic bartender. The overall entrance / entourage was great, we arrived around 15:00 and had a dinner course.
The service was great, very friendly and took her time to explain a few things. Quick service too, when finished plates were taken out and table was cleaned.
The food is the reason you come to a place, and that was to be fair not good. We had these dishes,
Starter Gyoza with oyster sauce, Ponzu, Wakame and Japanese Mayo, which was very salty to a point it wasn’t enjoyable
Main Course seared Tuna steak with a creme and wakame, the creme and wakame were very delicious. But the tuna steak was very hard, the sear over done and didn’t have the soft-falling-apart in your mouth type of feeling.
Porkbelly was very good, the rice that came with in in combination with the vegetables were very very salty, couldn’t enjoy it at all.
Overall experience get’s 3 stars because of the service and atmosphere but would not come back for the food at all. It feels like the chef didn’t check how salty the food was. I could drink an entire ocean after...
Read moreThe restaurant is very nice and food we ate as well, on the other hand, I absolutely do not recommend to visit with kids. Firstly, we chose this restaurant especially for the kids corner which, actually, as we were told was somewhere in the basement and we could not leave our kids to play there alone. It's not possible to eat next to. Secondly, the attitude of the waiter was not very welcoming, he told us that we need to leave by 19h30 for him to have time to clean the tables. We understood, of course, even if our intention was to wait our husbands and eat all together after feeding kids. However, we did not have reservation, so we respected. On the other hand we left with impression that we just didn't look solvent enough for the waiter, two mums with 3 little kids... 😆 Despite we ate there, left tips (more he deserved) and left. Btw, they have also very nice "kids menu", but the portion was not sufficient even for my daughter who is 3 years old. And it was just pasta with tomato sauce and really a bit of parmesan. Otherwise, good...
