Last night we had a vibrant Latin American-inspired dinner at Cinco in Copenhagen, trying their Amazundays tasting menu with cocktail pairings. From the moment we arrived, the lively atmosphere and attentive service set the stage for a memorable evening.
We started with a glass of Spumante, which was just sweet enough to be refreshing without overwhelming the palate. The set menu unfolded in four servings, each paired with a creative cocktail that matched the flavors beautifully.
The first round brought a playful mix of panipuri filled with shrimp salad, warm Argentinian cheese rolls, tangy ceviche, and a DIY guacamole that you spice yourself with a pipette of jalapeño chili—a clever and fun touch. The Tiempo de Pepino cocktail, tequila-based and infused with cucumber and bergamot, was fresh and balanced, complementing the starters perfectly.
Next came a comforting Aztec tomato and corn soup, a small tostada with tomato chutney, soft corn tortillas with tempura shrimp, and chicken wings with Muerto sauce. The wings were milder than expected, which my wife appreciated, though I would have preferred a bit more heat. The Paloma cocktail served with this round was crisp and refreshing, a great match for the variety of flavors.
For the main course, we enjoyed corn on the cob with butter and cheese, crispy polenta fritters with dried tomato chutney, smoky fried padrons, and tender roast chicken thigh served with carrot-orange mash and herb oil. The guava-based rum and chili cocktail was a little sweet for my taste, but it paired well with the rich and savory dishes.
Dessert was a creamy dulce de leche flan—unapologetically sweet and indulgent—accompanied by a Passion Pisco Sour that provided the perfect tart and aromatic finish to the meal.
All in all, Cinco’s Amazundays menu offers excellent value and a fun, flavorful journey through Latin American cuisine. The cocktail pairings are thoughtfully matched, and the playful presentation adds to the experience. We’ll definitely be back. Cinco is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a festive night out with delicious food, inventive drinks, and...
Read moreI went to Cinco with my colleagues for the 13-course Latin American tasting menu, along with the cocktail pairing of four different drinks. Some of the others had the wine menu instead. I’ve also been to Basso, Kød, and Kayser Social – all by the same owner – and it’s kind of the same story with each of them. None of them are bad; in fact, they’re all good. But there’s always something missing that keeps them from being great.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but I think it comes down to flavour. The dishes look beautiful and taste fine, but they often lack that bold, authentic punch you’d expect. It feels like, in trying to be a fusion restaurant, they lose some of the original authenticity that gives the food its soul.
The cocktails were okay but far too sweet across the board. It would have been nice with a bit more variety and balance – something sour, bitter, or refreshing to break it up.
Service-wise, it was a very long night. We sat for about three and a half hours before even getting dessert. I know 13 courses is a lot, but many of the dishes came out on shared plates, so it didn’t really need to take that long. By the end, we were all just tired. It also wasn’t very busy, which made the slow pace even harder to understand.
On the positive side, the interior is lovely and has a nice vibe, though I wish there’d been a bit more light on the tables.
Overall, it was a pleasant evening with good food, but again, it just missed that spark – that extra bit of flavour or energy that would make it an amazing...
Read moreWe had the 10-course tasting menu at Cinco in Copenhagen, which turned out to be a very enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is relaxed yet stylish, and the staff were attentive and welcoming throughout the evening.
The menu takes inspiration from across Latin America and each dish felt fresh and carefully put together. We started with empanadas served with a tangy green salsa, followed by a rich, velvety soup with a touch of herb oil. Fresh guacamole was prepared with avocado, herbs, and chili, served with crisp plantain chips. Sweetcorn came topped with a light crunchy crumble.
There were also several seafood and meat courses, such as tuna tartare on cabbage leaves with crispy potato strings, and another tuna dish layered with salsa and finished with delicate fried textures. A chicken dish came in a creamy, spiced sauce with thin crisp skin. We also had small tacos filled with seafood and topped with fresh jalapeño and sauce, which brought a nice balance of heat.
To finish, we had a dessert of berry sorbet with whipped cream and a crisp chocolate garnish – refreshing, colorful, and a great way to end the meal.
Opening hours: Cinco opens daily at 17:00. Last seating is at 21:00 Sunday–Wednesday and 22:00 Thursday–Saturday.
Altogether, the menu gave a varied journey through flavors from across Latin America, presented in a modern style. A very nice choice in Copenhagen for those who want to experience a tasting menu that is both creative and...
