Came here with sky high expectations for the restaurant, what with being a 4.9 rating at 700+ reviews. What could go wrong?
Well, the restaurant was certainly cozy enough and the staff were polite and happy to introduce their menu to customers.
However, I heard the same food introduction repeated at the other tables around us as well so they are basically reading off a memorised script.
Service was standard, nothing more or less than most other restaurants I have eaten at.
We went with the taster's menu (which the whole table has to get if you decide to get it) and were happy that we were allowed the flexibility to choose from the other options available in their menu.
My wife went with the beef and I the chicken thighs as some other reviewer mentioned it was the best chicken he/she has probably eaten.
I can confidently share that it's definitely not the best I have eaten, and would go so far as to say it's really normal and nothing to shout about. The best part of the main dish was actually the asparagus. (1/5)
My wife ordered medium for her beef and it was really tough for her to chew. She mentioned that it wasn't the best beef she's eaten and the sauce was just alright as well. (2.5/5)
If you have been to cruises (Royal Caribbean anyone?) and have eaten at their signature chops grill, their beef was at least 2 times better than the one here.
The biggest surprise to me was that I only got a single small piece of chicken thigh for my main, even lesser than the beef portion for my wife's main. I thought chicken was typically cheaper?
The tuna tostadas were good (4/5), the creamy asparagus soup was alright (3/5).
The desserts were average as well. We had the sinfully chocolate lava cake, which wasn't actually super chocolaty, which was paired with a more icy than creamy vanilla icecream. The creme brulee was above average. (3/5)
Overall, for the price I paid, this was a disappointing experience.
I felt the need to put this review in to balance the ratings of the place. Sorry, but they are nowhere near Michelin status.
As another reviewer mentioned, if you are looking for a neighbourhood restaurant and have extra cash to spare, you can give this a shot.
I for one, will not be...
Read moreThe food was quite good and reasonably priced. The (head I think) server would benefit from some hospitality training. We reached 20 minutes early for our appointment and were asked to return later as our table-though empty-was not ready yet. We had no problems with this and were promptly seated when we came back at reservations time. One of the chairs had a couple of salad leaves on it. We were a party of three on a table of four, so avoiding that chair was not a problem but if you have asked us to wander around for 20 minutes so that the table is ready, then it should be ready. Ok, not a big issue. Salad leaves get dropped. The bigger issue was that we asked for room temperature water and the water that came was ice cold. When we asked to return it, the server sharply said ‘ you do know room temperature water will be tap water and is not as filtered.’ Lady, it’s Copenhagen. The difference in E Coli count does not justify your pretentiousness. We understand preference for bottled water but this could have been indicated tactfully instead of scoldingly. We told her we didn’t mind. This server then left us alone for the rest of the meal and our regular server was absolutely delightful. The head server came back with the bill. After I had swiped the card, she asked me whether I wanted to tip. The restaurant was stiflingly hot, the salad leaves were still there on the chair and they had charged me 40 Kr for the tap water with attitude. I did not want to tip. Well, their payment system defaults to tipping and I would have to press a bunch of buttons to get out of it and cancel transaction and swipe again. Why don’t you do this instead of telling me? It was too much work and I paid 5%.. I hope this all goes to our wonderful...
Read moreHave you ever been to Denmark 🇩🇰? I've been there recently for the first time with my family and friends. I knew eating out wouldn't be easy because of the prices. What I didn't know is that it would also be complicated cause the most famous restaurants in Copenhagen are fully booked weeks in advance! 😳 I was in charge of searching for a place for 5 for our first night there. That was not an easy task but I ended up finding a spot at Maple Casual Dining. I chose that place because there was availability and because prices were moderate, moderate being €75 per person for a 3 course meal and drinks in Copenhagen. 😱 We all had a 2 course meal and shared 1 bottle of wine and 1 dessert that night for €60 each... But let's forget about the price cause Copenhagen is crazy expensive. 😒 I had tuna tartare tacos. I could feel that the tuna's quality was great but the overall dish was kinda dull and uneasy to eat as the tacos were too big to put in my mouth and broke in many pieces at every bite. 😓 Then I had plaice that was excellent and perfectly cooked. My wife also let me try the steak that was also excellent. 👍 The service was great, really attentive and all the servers were willing to help and guide us. 👏 We all loved the decor and atmosphere of the venue too. 🤩 So, overall, a very good experience amongst friends for this meal that ended up being one of the cheapest in our whole stay in Denmark. 😅
