Good day, dear Curfew,
Since weâve begun this conversation, letâs speak openly.
You responded to my friendsâ review, not mine, yet somehow decided to direct your criticism solely at me, which is absurd. When thereâs nothing valid to say, it seems the easiest thing is to simply let something out of your mouth.
Regarding the 1000 krone note issue: According to Danish law Betalingslovens §81, Kapitel 12, §81, if there is no prior notice, you are obliged to accept 1000 krone notes in cash. Every restaurant still follows this rule, and until the end of the year, this remains valid. So, the issue was created solely by you and your incompetence, not by me.
As for the whisky bottle â I didnât ask you to serve me homemade moonshine, but rather an expensive whisky. Your concept led me to believe that bourbon whisky would fit the theme perfectly. I know a lot about that era and have a deep interest in its history, which is one of the reasons Iâve been visiting your bar for over a year now. It was a major reason, in fact.
Moving on to the smoking issue: I fully agree. I must have been entirely confused by your concept, especially when, in a half-empty bar, we waited for two Margaritas after finishing our drinks and waited patiently for our friendsâ cocktails. The wait was tiring, so yes, I allowed myself to smoke without disturbing anyone else. For that, I offer my only sincere apology â it was rude.
But letâs also talk about your bartender, the one you leave in charge on weeknights and weekends. The gentleman from Greece â unfortunately, I didnât catch his name. He was great, especially since we loved the âLost Generationâ cocktail and, on that occasion, brought new guests to your bar. Everyone loved the drink, and when my friends asked for a replacement cocktail, it was because paying your prices for a non-alcoholic drink that tasted like Fanta with lemon was quite unreasonable. We even said weâd cover the cost of the original drink and order new ones, to which the bartender responded, âWe spend the full price on this cocktail.â Still, we insisted, saying weâd pay for everything and just bring us two more Margaritas. After waiting, and receiving nothing, your bartender said he âdidnât understand,â even though it was clearly communicated that weâd pay for everything. We even asked, âCan you make a Margarita?â and he replied, âYes,â very clearly.
Your response to my friends was utterly absurd and nonsensical, accusing us of making âfalse claims.â I generally donât leave reviews, but your reply to my friends directly targeted me. You even brought up incidents with Kevin, which were private between us, and yet you chose to publicize them in your response to my friends. This shows a complete lack of professionalism and awareness. For someone claiming to represent an âelite establishment,â youâre acting more childish and offended than is reasonable.
Your concept of âWe are always right, and if you donât like it, leaveâ is just as outdated as âThe customer is always right.â
And yes, we have spent every birthday and the entire year at your bar, regularly dropping at least 1000 kroner and up to 2-3 thousand on cocktails alone.
But after your private outburst directed specifically at me, let me respond privately to you: you cannot ban me from coming back. Itâs I who will choose not to return, not because âthe door is closed to us.â Thereâs a fantastic bar at Nimb, where weâll be spending our evenings from now on. I genuinely wish you success, give my thanks to bartender Kevin for his excellent service, and nothing personal to the Greek bartender â he did his best. As for you, the owner (sorry, didnât catch your name), good luck with your policy and your business! đ
I sincerely hope youâll have many guests, and one day youâll realize that losing regulars over a single non-alcoholic cocktail was a...
Read moreA complete disappointment â poor service and terrible cocktails.
We came as a large group, ready for a fun evening, but from the moment we arrived, it was a disaster. We stood outside in the cold for about 10 minutes waiting for someone to bother opening the door, only to be told we needed to wait another 10 minutes before we could be seated â and this was on a Sunday when the bar was almost empty! When we finally got inside and placed our orders, the cocktails that arrived were downright awful â it was like drinking water with sugar and a giant chunk of ice. They didnât even remotely resemble proper cocktails.
The worst part, though, was the service, especially from the Greek guy who was serving us. He clearly has no idea about good service or basic manners. When we asked him to replace the horrible drinks, he flat-out refused, saying there was nothing he could do and that these watery cocktails would still be included in the bill. Fine, we accepted that, but we told him that in this case, theyâd lose all of us as regulars (there were 8 of us), and we had been coming here every week or two. His response? âYes, sure, no problem, you donât have to come back, but we canât do anything about it.â
Despite all this, we still ordered another round of drinks, just to salvage the evening and move on. But after half an hour, we hadnât received anything. When we asked him about it, he said heâd forgotten weâd even placed the new order! At that point, we just laughed it off, paid the bill, and left. That was our last visit, without a doubt.
Honestly, cocktails at Curfew were never amazing, just passable, but we always came back for the atmosphere and the decent service. But after dealing with this particular server on the night of 20.10.2024, weâll never be returning. Itâs a real shame because the concept behind the bar is great, and credit to the founders for that. But the staff has completely destroyed the reputation of this place for us. Each time we visit, things get worse and worse.
Itâs not enough to just look good in pictures anymore. This bar may be aesthetically pleasing, but it leaves you with nothing but negative feelings and a...
Read moreWhen we were seated by the doorman, we looked trough the menu and did not find anything we wanted, so we decided to leave. Upon leaving the doorman approached us and asked what was wrong, we kindly said, that we just wanted to leave (due to personal reasons) and he aggressively said, that we are rude, not polite for not ordering and using his service (which was just opening the door, leading us to the table and glasses of water we did not drink and did not ask). We were confused why is it rude to leave when we just didnât want anything and why are we are obligated to buy something if do not want to? If it wasnât enough, that he called us rude and impolite, he also charged us for his services. We agreed, even though he didnât inform us about the fee in the beginning and there was no information about this service price at the menu. When we said that itâs ok, we will pay, he was still nagging us to pay, even though we said we will a few times⌠When we asked for the price, he said his service costs 50 DKK, our friend payed and then he mentioned that this price is per person. As a tourist we see this as a scam, because we are not even sure that this is legal (charging a random price, that was never mentioned before basically for nothing and pretending that this price is for his service which was not that much). We were very disappointed, that his mood suddenly changed and he was very rude to us even though we immediately agreed to pay. It would be understandable to ask us to pay if that was said before or at least anywhere in the bar or on the menu, but as I mentioned before, that wasnât the case. And just a tip for that doorman, who was rude to us, if you see us leaving and tell us to pay for your service at least be a decent human being and tell this politely, because itâs hypocritical to ask us to pay for your service when you are being rude to us. Now I see that people have had similar experiences in this bar and I wish I knew this before, because we would not go there. I really do not recommend for people...
