Today we visited Nazomi in St. Kongensgade with high expectations, as the place has received many positive reviews on Google.
Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to those expectations at all.
The most disappointing part was the completely disengaged service. Not a single smile, no sense of hospitality, and no effort to make guests feel welcome. Everything seemed to run on autopilot. Despite there being only around 12–14 guests in the restaurant, the waiting time was long, and we had to repeatedly call for staff just to get used dishes cleared from the table. Even then, they didn’t clear old plates when serving new dishes.
At no point were we asked if everything was okay, how the food tasted, or if we needed anything. Honestly, I get better service at McDonald’s.
As for the food, the sashimi and nigiri were far below acceptable. Poorly prepared, with salmon that was soft, almost mushy in texture, and completely lacking in flavor. The tuna tasted odd, and the rice had an overwhelmingly sour flavor. Pickled ginger and wasabi were forgotten and had to be requested separately.
The rolls were okay – but that’s where you can easily hide a lot behind sauces and dressings.
The best part of the meal was actually their sticks and starters: gyoza, spring rolls, ebi tempura, miso soup, and seaweed salad.
The dining space itself was dark and a bit dreary – it had no real vibe or atmosphere.
Will we return? Sadly, no. Since Sachi Sushi in Borgergade closed, we’ll have to make the drive to their restaurant in Helsingør instead – the quality there is on a completely different level in...
Read moreOver the past few months, I've been ordering sushi for takeout here once every week for dinner. It's always been takeout, so I can't comment much on the restaurant interior itself and the service you'd get from eating in.
But otherwise, the food is always great. It tastes great, it's filling, and based both on the taste and the texture, the restaurant seems to use high-quality ingredients (after all, raw fish would make it immediately obvious if the ingredients were of poor quality). I really like salmon, so all of my orders include some salmon-based roll, in addition to something else. My order usually consists of some combination of at least 2 options - Alaska or California uramaki, tuna or salmon hosomaki, salmon fotomaki, or tofu fotomaki or rice paper rolls. For sushi, Nozomi is also relatively cheap - it's rare to find a sushi restaurant with food of exceptional quality at this price point.
The parts of the restaurant I did see are cozy and welcoming. As far as waiting for/receiving my takeout goes, the service is very friendly and pleasant. If you're in the area in the mood for sushi, Nozomi is a great place, and I intend to continue getting my dinner from here once a week for...
Read moreWe went for the All You Can Eat. Food was great, fresh. They also have sashimi and other nice starters. I am giving 4/5 because of the pushy service. They were generally nice but when asked if we are fine with the table (they split tables and gave us one in the middle of the room, with traffic next to it), I asked for a more private one since there were many available and she came up with an argument that because we booked recently, we cannot get a better spot, which basically meant we were less valued customers. Why do you ask then :). During the 2-3h visit it didn't get busy around us, tables were available and their online bookings weren't full. Don't understand. After our first order, we were asked if we ordered any drinks, to which we answered no, as we just drunk a lot in the city. 10 minutes later she came again with some random argument which basically put pressure on us that we should order a drink. Sure, I get it, we all know this all-you-can-eat concept works best for the restaurant when customers get full from drinking beverages and thus eat less, but you can't be this...
