Last night, we had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Elan in Copenhagen together with friends, and it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience in a bustling, nearly full dining room. Elan’s concept centers on Mediterranean-inspired sharing plates, and the execution was both inviting and well thought-out.
The Menu & Experience We opted for the sharing menu, which included 8 dishes (including dessert) served over three courses:
First Serving:
A trio of starters set the tone for the evening. The gougères with truffle cream and Iberico ham were indulgent and full of flavor, while the orange-braised fennel with honey-yogurt, dill, chili, and hazelnuts offered an intriguing combination of sweet, tangy, and herbal notes. The prawns, fried in olive oil with garlic and chili, were juicy and aromatic, and the thyme sourdough bread was a perfect accompaniment.
Second Serving:
The risotto with ramson and parmesan was a highlight—creamy, perfectly cooked, and bursting with spring flavors. The beef steak, served with chimichurri and romesco sauce, was tender and satisfying, while the green asparagus and cucumber with salsa verde and pickled mustard provided a fresh, zesty contrast that was both surprising and delicious.
Desserts:
For dessert, we each chose from four options. The seasonal rhubarb trifle was light and refreshing, the tiramisu was classic and well-balanced, and the chocolate mousse was rich and decadent—something for every palate.
Wine & Service To accompany our meal, we enjoyed a bottle of 2022 Côtes du Rhône Villages, Boutinot Les Coteaux, recommended by our attentive waitress. It paired beautifully with the variety of dishes, complementing both the lighter starters and the heartier main courses.
Atmosphere Elan’s atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both couples and groups. The service was friendly and efficient, contributing to a very pleasant evening.
Verdict While Elan isn’t chasing Michelin stars, it offers a fresh and well-executed take on Mediterranean cuisine. The sharing concept works seamlessly, and the kitchen’s attention to flavor and presentation is clear. All in all, a great addition to Copenhagen’s dining scene—highly recommended for a casual yet memorable night out with friends...
Read moreAverage experience here although the atmosphere may seem like you'll be receiving good service but it was otherwise. We were served by one of the waitress which was quite rude and refused to provide more information when asked about dishes/drinks on the menu. Another male waiter was much more understanding and was very pleasant. The avocado open sandwich was seasoned well. The whole experience would be better if only the first waitress was more welcoming. Felt outcasted by the waitress but the waiter was a delight. Perhaps it'll be great to encourage staff to be more welcoming and open to share insights on the menu offerings especially considering your customers may be tourists instead of telling your customers "you...

I went out with some friends all day in town, and we went afterwards there for dinner. I love their outdoor seating as well, it's a bit hidden, but once you know it's there - you will keep coming back.
The food was delicious and prepared nicely with fresh ingredients, and the service was just amazing!!! They were so friendly which I find very important to have a pleasant experience.
Highly recommended from a very...
