What a shame we discovered ZFood on our last day in Quito! This seafood haven impressed us with its impressive variety of fresh seafood and fish. The restaurant itself is spacious and features a lovely terrace. We opted for a table facing the seafood display, which allowed us to appreciate the impressive selection firsthand.
Food: ZFood is a seafood lover's dream, boasting an expansive selection of fresh catches, particularly notable is their impressive display where you can handpick your seafood. We indulged in Stone Crab, its meat was incredibly juicy and flavorful, though served cold. While we preferred a slightly warmer temperature, it didn’t detract from the crab's tenderness and succulence. It was accompanied by three sauces, with the melted garlic butter being our favorite. Our next choice was a whole Lobster served with rice paella-style and grilled vegetables. We handpicked our lobster, and it was expertly prepared, succulent, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The rice was a revelation - toasted to a delightful crisp, it complemented the lobster perfectly. For dessert, we opted for the Lemon Pie with Meringue, a delectable end to our meal. The dessert was wonderfully balanced in terms of tartness and sweetness, featuring a smooth, creamy mousse and melt-in-your-mouth meringue – highly recommended!
Service: The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. Our server was proficient in English, assisting us in selecting the perfect seafood. The food arrived promptly, showcasing their efficiency and dedication to providing a top-notch experience.
Conclusion: ZFood is undoubtedly the best seafood restaurant in Quito. It's amazing to find such a diverse selection of fresh seafood at such a high altitude, highlighting the restaurant’s dedication to sourcing and logistics. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the restaurant itself is conducive to relaxation and enjoyment. Don't miss out on this culinary gem – indulge yourself in ZFood's fresh...
Read moreA beautiful restaurant with potential. It seems to be lacking staff and coordination. I went at a peak hour when every table was full, though I didn't have to wait to be seated. It did, however, take a while before any waiter noticed I had been assigned a table to introduce themselves. It's terrible to sit at a table ignored waiting to know which waiter is assigned to your section. The staff were clearly over capacity with the full restaurant. You could sense the panic from the staff trying to keep up with the mountain of orders. The linen napkins ran out, stacks of dirty plates were visibly accumulating in the kitchen preparation area, and the bartender was frantically going around the restaurant trying to recover glasses for the drinks he needed to prepare. My rice arrived with a piece crab shell in it, even though I didn't order crab. Good thing I'm only allergic to shrimp, but I warned the waiter that this type of cross-contamination can be very dangerous for some customers. In the caos of their peak hour, the open kitchen format exposed the restaurant to the staff's frustration with one another, yelling at and scolding each other with disrespect. It greatly disturbs the intended ambiance of the restaurant to see staff mistreating and belittling each other in front of all the customers. It's truly sad. I tried to order a second glass of wine to cope, and it never came. I'm sure this is a wonderful restaurant when it isn't full, because they clearly cannot manage full capacity. I do wish them well as they work to increase their capacity and provide additional training to...
Read moreVery good experience! We had two starters and two mains and all of them were really fresh and delicious! Presentation, taste , all the flavour combinations were very good. They have some signature ceviches in their menu. We got Nikkei and it was so tasty, highly recommended! Just a few small feedback to make it even better; Starter portions are too big and afterwards can’t have really room for main dishes so it would be great to make the starter portions a bit smaller:) Fish&Shrimp tacos were very good, but the fish was slightly salty. We ordered molcajete de camarones and shrimps were a bit over fried and slightly dry. It would have been nicer to cook them a bit less so inside would be softer and a bit juicy.
Wine selection ( it can be improved) atmosphere , service , the staff ( our waitress was very nice and super attentive) everything was so good! Plus, during my Ecuador trip I had the best coffee in here:) Overall, I highly...
