Simple things become complicated when you expect too much and this is what happened with Kuusi Palaa.
DETAILS Because every experience is built on details I couldn’t notice the stained menus that were laid in front of us and the dirty uniform of the waitress. Also there is a rotisserie next to the bar where the ducks are cooked but before reaching that beautiful golden-brown colour, there is a less pleasant sight of fat dropping out of the raw ducks. Personally I was not pleased with the view. But by the time you'll receive the starters you almost forgot about the ducks and a hard, deep smell of food will penetrate your clothes. Food smell was in the air every time they cooked something.
FOOD The starters looked very nice, I liked the presentation but they were bland and lacking seasoning. The main course (in this case entrecôte), the meat had a frozen after taste, there’s was additional oil in the plate (even though the entrecôte was fatty), baby carrots that were almost melted in my dish, spinach puree (probably raw) very bitter, celery stick (no idea why there), and SALT. Everything was extra salted, even the fries with parmesan.
OVERALL The experience was not the one that we expected and probably we’ll never go back there to eat.
The two stars are for staffs food knowledge and their...
Read moreFun idea. Looks nice from the outside. Is it an other covid casualty? Menu looked good but was unable to deliver. Tried the six pieces and one was unavailable but the waiter was unaware or had forgotten and needed to return and ask me to double up. I was warned that it might not be enough for a meal as the menu suggested. The five I tried only had one pleasant surprise, two were ok but the stake tartar was overwhealmed by mustard and the Elk mearly tasted of liver. Wifes sandwich was prity but impracticle. Thick dry bread was hard to eat by itself let alone with anything on top. The meat was uninspireing and felt like it had not been microwaved long enough. Desert was a severe dissapointment. I knew that the lingonberry sorbet would not be sweat and tasted ok, but is was not smooth with too big icecrystals. The almond cake was not warm as advertised nor very almondy and seemed to have just been removed from a plastic wrapper. The blueberry was swaped for under-ripe and bland strawberry without warning. Supply chain problems? Maybe... Value for price? Now way! Not interested in giving them a second chance.
The bathroom was far away and unkept. Something was out so i had to first go hunting for soap. Sucess on third attempt, then paper towel over by the...
Read moreThe overall experience at Marski wasn't too bad but a few key things stood out to us. We were a group of 9 with a reservation early in the evening on a weekday. The restaurant was quite emoy at the time. 2 hours into our time there we had barely had drinks, ordered and started our courses. While some at the table had their Kuusi pala menu, those were served the first part of that menu and others had to wait for the 2nd part of that menu until they got their meals. Understandable that the staff wanted to serve mains together. In general the service was slow for such an empty restaurant. A few times our various requests were forgotten, but remedied so I can't complain there either. The value for money was a bit steep, but I understand it is located in a Scandic hotel and is a well known place. I feel for what we paid the portions were small but quite good at the same time. One salad was missing listed ingredients but after thisnwas Brough to the staff's attention, they quickly removed the mistake by removing it from the bill. We won't return to Marski but that's a personal choice based upon our experience and isn't a complaint about the restaurant itself. If you're staying in the hotel and don't want to venture far for a meal, it's a worthwhile place to...
