After my last visit to L'Hydromel I will not want go back again unfortunately. I live locally, and appreciate public holiday weekends are a very busy time. There was no excuse for the waiter being rude to me when I asked for the bill after waiting for over 30 minutes for someone to come over. Our table wasn't cleared, we wanted more drinks ages ago and gave up so just wanted to get the bill and leave. I asked for the bill, and he got the card machine out, I said we don't have the bill yet so we don't know how much we're supposed to pay for what we had, as we wanted to split it between the four of us. He then said to me he knows his job. This was uncalled for, and has really soured the afternoon. They even started adding more tables to the terrace in the small spaces around us even though people were being squeezed in and they clearly couldn't handle even the customers they already had. He sent us to the bar girl who had to do all the drinks for a busy terrace and was saddled with a queue of people wanting to pay too - she also looked very angry. My friends were visiting from out of town, and I was embarrassed about the experience and upset about the way we were treated without cause. And so I will take my business and treats for friends elsewhere next time and not return....

Eventually they cooked me a new one only slightly bigger even though I told them not to bother, I got that one for free because I refused to pay for this meal.
It tasted ok and the beef was tender, but still nowhere near worth âŹ28 even in Chamonix.
My partner ordered a vegetable burger which is a simple piece of grilled aubergine and sweet potato in a bun with sweet potato fries, this was also over priced at âŹ18 but did taste good.
We also waited for 45minutes for our meals to be served to us only to end up with this đ
The Pietra beer and the croquettes were good, the rest not...
