O'Rabbit's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Colmar-Ribeauvillé

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at this café on our third and last day in Colmar. We simply wanted to sit for a short break with a drink. I was with my husband and our 4-year-old son. We politely asked for a couple of extra chairs, and were told someone would help.

However, a staff member later came over very upset and raised his voice at us. The way he spoke and reacted made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Even though we explained that we were only staying for 15–20 minutes, things escalated quickly and unexpectedly.

What upset us the most was the aggressive attitude and the lack of basic respect, especially in front of our child. As the atmosphere became tense, we decided to leave.

We were later told we hadn’t paid a €10 bill, which we would of course have paid if it had been calmly mentioned — but by that point, the situation had become very unpleasant.

This was unfortunately a sad experience in an otherwise lovely town. We hope no one else has to go through...

Earlier in the day, I visited this pub for a drink and noticed a sign saying you could pay 1 euro to use the bathroom if you weren’t a customer. Later, I went back just to use the bathroom, willing to pay, but the guy at the front was rude and refused to let me in. Instead, he told me to use the public restroom, which is completely impractical.

Colmar gets a lot of tourists around Christmas, and there’s only one public bathroom at each market. With so many people, the lines are ridiculously long and it’s nearly impossible to use. Other cafes also refuse to let you use their restrooms, pushing you towards the public ones, but it’s just not feasible because of the overwhelming number of people.

food was good but service was bad. I ordered the fish and chips and as I was cutting the fish a few of the chips fell off the plate and onto the table. I asked for a box and the server picked up my fries off the table with his fingers and put them on the plate. I told him that I don’t want the fries that fell on the table and all I got was that his english was not good and he took my plate and returned to me a box with the dirty fries. My sister had a half a burger and an entire order of fries leftover but she only got her burger back and fries thrown out. We asked for some extra napkins and the server proceeded to smoke a cigarette on the street until we asked a second time. We also had to ask three times over 20 minutes to simply pay...
