Booked a table for set dinner at €120/person + drinks for the firework display on the 22nd. I knew the price was going to be a rip off, but, like most, I wanted beach access for my guests to see the firework display. The table provided offered partially restricted viewing near the bar but we were told there was no other option, which was annoying. Other than that, it offered a pretty good position to view what was an amazing fireworks display. Other tables had better. Service was fine. Music was good, other than occasional crashing feedback from a speaker near the table and the odd addition of a saxophonist who was part playing and part miming with the dance music. Guess he was there for the Instagram crowd. The service staff did a good job of geeing people up as well as doing their jobs. Many people were really enjoying the experience. Wine was running at a approx 300% mark up. The food was distinctly average and way below the value of the payment cost. Pre prepped for ease I'm sure, with the amuse bouche being the 'dish' with the most flavour. Starter, meh, but at least used decent tomatoes, main, dry fish sat on a solid, virtually indistinguishable sauce or purée, overly sweet, overly large desert, which was often left by diners. But, no one went for the extortionately priced food and I'm sure most people just took it as par for the course, in order to gain access to the beach for the fireworks. Post fireworks there was a rush to the bar which crowded our table. Inconsiderate placement at best. However, the unforgivable action of serving and charging for tap water as still Vos water is what really blew the experience. It may be considered a small infraction, but I thought the service world had conquered this particular bugbear. Selling tap water and it was tap water, as high priced premium spring water is unacceptable and not something that any client, who has already accepted prepaying for a mediocre meal as the cost involved to gain access to a special event has agreed to. That is taking being ripped off a step too far. I would have thought such flagrant profiteering would have been deemed shameful to any establishment worth it's salt. Seems like Hyde Beach prefers the extra profit margin. I can't say whether this is management policy, if it happened to other tables, if the staff were aware, or if it was a one off. Then again, that's why the tap for spring water scam is so easy to perpetrate. Plausible deniability. Trouble is, when it's noticed, your reputation with that client is forever tainted and they (and their guests) won't be coming back. That's the reason for the 1 star review and you did it...

Pros: The venue - like all along the croisette is nice, cool decor. The beds are first come, first serve so if you don’t have a reservation for another beach club here is a good option. Especially if you come early, however, 1st row loungers are reserved for hotel guests of the Mondrian. There are also beds on the pier you can rent and generally beds were cheaper than what we paid elsewhere Staff were friendly and welcoming Menu was quite big with lots of options. Price point was also cheaper than some of the other establishments along the croisette
Cons: Service was okay at the beginning when the beach wasn’t so busy. As the day went on and it got busier our waiter Alex just seemed completely overwhelmed. Attending to guests left, right and centre. There didn’t seem to be anyone supporting him or many other staff around the whole day?! Service got slower and slower as the day went on and staff less attentive Water came with glasses - no ice bucket or ice. You had to ask which seems crazy when it’s hot?! Club Sando didn’t have much chicken in it and was mostly bread.. the tuna salad was also okay
The bill at the end had extra water added and another item. I assume because we had to ask so many people for the water that it was punched although only the one came. Waiter did say to go and remove it and the other item but we waited that long for the bill we left. He also has a bit of an attitude as we didn’t leave a tip. Usually very fair but why give a tip for...
Read moreOur visit to the beachfront restaurants along La Croisette on December 25th fell significantly short of the expectations one might have for such a prestigious and luxurious destination. While the picturesque setting lived up to its reputation, the level of hospitality was surprisingly lacking.
Many of these establishments had visibly empty tables yet consistently claimed they were “fully booked.” This response was repeated at multiple venues, with little effort made to accommodate walk-in guests—particularly those speaking English. The standard reply, “no booking, no table,” was often delivered in a brusque and unwelcoming manner.
Adding to the frustration, a quick check of their online reservation systems revealed that tables were still available, directly contradicting their in-person refusals. This discrepancy gave the impression that walk-ins, especially tourists, were not a priority, leaving us feeling dismissed and unwelcome.
What stood out even more was the shared experience among other visitors that day. Despite the influx of holiday crowds, many found themselves turned away while staring at empty tables. This behavior not only tarnished the reputation of the individual restaurants but also reflected poorly on the hospitality expected of such a prime location.
In a destination as iconic as La Croisette, where excellence should be the norm, this indifferent attitude and lack of professionalism were both disheartening and entirely...
