Mido — Restaurant in Grasse

We dined here tonight at the recommendation of our waitress at a previous venue. All went well to begin with, but then our waiter was always there, pushing us to order the next dishes when we didn't even have the dishes we already ordered, and even trying to take away a dish (endamame) before we finished. Maybe we should thank him as we barely had time to enjoy our wine, so we will undoubtedly feel clearer headed tomorrow morning for drinking less. We still enjoyed the food as we used to have sushi and/or other Japanese food at least once a week before we moved to Europe, and we miss it like crazy, but for the price here (which was about 3-4× what we would pay for the same quality in Australia) we would have hoped to be able to relax and enjoy our meal at our pace. The thing that really ruined it was being asked as we paid by card if the tip was going to be in cash. We add tips most of the time since we moved here, but have never been asked outright for one. Yesterday, we decided to make a special occasion and try this Japanese restaurant. It was great! The food was super tasty and delicious, especially the fish with the rice and the salad! It’s a must-try here! We also ordered some sushi and starters.

The service was great, although the lady couldn’t open the bottle of wine. They were super attentive and helpful.

It was expensive, but it is worth it! We booked a table online on the same day. It was busy and crowded inside, although we asked for a table outside, and they told us it was fully booked, but when we went, there were a lot of empty tables, and when we left, there were still empty tables.

It is Cannes, and I cannot expect the same treatment as I do in London. I felt most of the restaurants we went to had the best food and service; this is for sure the best!...

The vibes are absolutely magnificent! Great place for a late lunch or early dinner! Located on the same street as many great restaurants, this place is a must for anyone who enjoyes Japanese food! Live music and great service not to mention the attentive staff and delicious food.. everything combined made the night very memorable! We tried the grilled chicken which comes with a side of rice (to die for 😻), the lamb, tempura crevettes and few maki rolls (roll carbe wasabi was deicious but the futomaki spider was not).
