We had an absolutely awful experience at this restaurant in Paris. My boyfriend and I stopped by just to enjoy a glass of wine, as we often do in the Netherlands where it’s perfectly normal to have a drink without ordering food. A waiter took our wine order with no problem, but a few minutes later, another waitress came over and told us (quite rudely) that it’s not allowed to drink without ordering food. Nobody had told us this in advance, and we felt completely forced into ordering a meal we didn’t even want. The corect way to handle this would have been if the waiter told us when we ordered only wine that it is not possible to order only drink. But they tricked us intentionally because if they told us before, we would have left.
We ordered the Black Angus dish and it was horrible. The meat tasted off, the texture was strange, and later that evening both my boyfriend and I broke out in itchy red bumps all over our bodies. It was not only disgusting but also worrying. We’ve never had such a reaction to food before.
The whole experience was unpleasant from start to finish, poor communication, rude staff, no space to breath, the place is sooo small and food that literally made us sick. Definitely the worst dining experience we’ve had in Paris. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.
Update after their response: No one told us anything. We went in, asked if there is an available table for two, we sat down and after that we ordered wine, the waiter took our order, gave us the wine and after a couple of minutes a waitress came and said “Did you order food? You have to order food. We don’t do that here, we don’t serve drinks” and after that went to the waiter and said something to him about it. Stop lying, at least be responsible about it. It is exactly how it happened. Now you’re talking about false accusations? The things that we got on our skin were tested at the doctor and he provided us with the information that it was from that food. Be happy we don’t suit and a negative review is all you get and stop lying. Because with the paper from the doctor we could ask for a lot of...
Read moreWorst experience. I ordered duck “magret” or something that came with baked potato. I found out that the baked potato was cold inside while was warm outside. I told the curled hair lady about that situation and instead of simple sorry she just took and microwave everything instead of remaking my order. At the end we found a hair that actually very disgusting. BTW, I hope that if you serve steak with blood, at least ask first do I want it like that or not. My complaint was being answered by the statement “that in five years they didn’t have any unhappy client before”. First, maybe people not telling you face to face like I did and in fact people not telling you about the complaint does do nothing with me. Second, if you really never did anything wrong maybe you should have 5 star rating but you don’t and that is for a reason. I really don’t like how a customer is being treated here. And the food is a solid 3 based on the beef. It’s my personal opinion, if the restaurant thinks that his opinion is more important that...
Read moreThis is my favourite restaurant in Paris. I always bring my friends and coworkers with me and everyone is so impressed with the delicious food and outstanding service.
I discovered Aux Cocottes on a trip last May. My friend and I still talk about the Mediterranean salad and the brioche we had for dessert. I even tried to recreate it at home!
Along with the food, the service the staff provide is outstanding. They are so professional, and create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
When I was last there earlier this month, I went twice during my stay. Both times, my friends and colleagues raved about the experience. The second time, the staff absolutely went above and beyond to find a way to accommodate our group which had grown in size because of our rave reviews. Many of my colleagues had duck and loved it. I had the salmon and it was delicious.
To the staff at Aux Cocottes, thank you for so many wonderful and memorable experiences. I look forward to going back with more friends as soon as I am in...
