Café de l'Empire — Restaurant in Paris

Quick, delicious lunch (at least my dish was) at an affordable price. We dropped in ona Tuesday at 12 and there were a few people already dining and some more diners trickling in. We were in and out in about 40 minutes, which seems suspect but I enjoyed my dish.

I had duck confit, which cooked perfectly. It wasn't dry, so I don't suspect they are using heat lamps, microwaves, etc. Maybe they cook it until it's almost done and heat it all the way once it's ordered? It comes with a side salad and fries. But these aren't your basic fries. They're sliced potatoes fried until they're crispy. Hubby had the carpaccio, which we both thought was meh. It came topped with parmesan, and drizzled with a pesto sauce, which we thought was a bit odd. The beef itself was fine, nothing amazing but the pesto sauce just didn't do it for me.

Service is attentive and friendly. Good option for lunch, especially for the area since it's located so close to the museums, right in between the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay. Didn't seem like a...

NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL DUE TO VERY SLOW SERVICE AND RUDE WAIT STAFF.

We were very excited to try this resto since it had good reviews online but we are VERY and UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED at the very slow service and rude racist wait staff. 1 and a half hours of waiting, our orders have not yet arrived. We tried to get the attention of the waiters but they dont look around. The lady bartender saw us raising our hands and trying to get the attention of the waiters but she ignored us and did not bother to tell her colleagues. Our neighbors were also complaining of the slow service, the waiters deliberately avoided us Asians. We just decided to pay for our drinks and leave. The lady bartender however was whispering things to the waitress who was computing our bill, not at all sensitive that we were there, waiting for the bill. The food was great, not too touristy and there seemingly were some locals there. We got there at 22:00 and everything was going great! Our service was good and as the place started to wind down our server went out to smoke, I grabbed his attention and he pointed at the other waiter. Ok not ideal as we just wanted the check but whatever. Got his attention multiple times and finally asked for the check. He brought it over after for what seemed like an eternity, then he never brought the credit card reader over. I finally brought the ticket up to the bar and asked to pay. This really killed the mood of the night for my girl and I to where she said unprompted as well.

If you're going off shift or outside to smoke please do a warm handoff of tasks that need to be finished especially quick and simple ones to get patrons on their way out. And for the guy that was supposed to be our new waiter, I get it drinks make you money especially in Paris but the menus didn't need to be sorted at that...
