Our evening at Di Vino was a real rollercoaster, complete with more downs than ups, and not the fun kind. The Eiffel Tower was visible and felt very close from our table view... Sadly, that was the peak of our experience.
The service felt like a game of hide and seek. We spotted our waiter less frequently than we did shooting stars in the Paris night sky. When he did appear, we were told 'cash only,' but being resourceful as we were, we handled it with a treasure hunt to the nearest ATM. Back from our quest, we tried to order wine, the waiter took a few seconds and went into deep thought, then said "we are out of this wine"; because of the odd behavior, I played detective, went to the bar, and asked for this bottle myself, and what do you know, they had it!
Just as we were toasting our sleuthing success, a new waitress swooped in, insisting we needed to order food to keep our "prime" seats—despite a couple of empty tables taunting us with their vacancy. The plot thickened with her voice, which rose faster than our eyebrows.
Billing was the grand finale. Charged for an extra drinks we never ordered, we protested. The staff debated like it was a courtroom drama, finally agreeing with us, with the waitress yelling and saying "I saw it with my own eyes" then storms off without an apology. The staff seemed to be on our side, but overall no one really apologized. Now that I look at other views, I see they have a pretty low average. I'm now wondering if they are going for the record on the lowest rating side??
In retrospect, I'm almost relieved we skipped the food. Given the service saga, who knows what awaited on or even after the plate! The view of the Eiffel Tower is top-notch, but next time, I'm avoiding this restaurant. Also the reason we went here is because there's another restaurant near by that was absolutely packed. So maybe there's a reason why it was empty... Despite their "high in...
Read moreThe worst experience. The place seemed to be fine at first glance. We got a table for four inside. After about 20 minutes a waitress has greeted us and took our drinks order. Then she surprised us that everybody at the table must order something. Since we had a late lunch, the only hungry person was my daughter. We have waited already enough to stay here. Well, we asked for a salad, pizza and two desserts. Apparently it is not enough. The waitress called a manager. Without any introduction, but with emotions and absolute disregard, the manager started explaining that this is THE restaurant and everybody must have an order from the main entry list. He mentioned that this place is very busy, there are people waiting for a table and they will not accept our order. Surely there were several empty tables inside and 4-5 tables outside, but he didn't care. My family agreed to leave this disrespectful place. BTW I had to pay my bill for drinks that we left on the table with a credit card on a street, because the "fancy" place's cashier machine couldn't establish connection with a bank inside the building. This place is a huge pretender, but seems to be just greedy. Choose any place around where staff is much more...
Read moreFood was just okay, service was not so good but the location and ambience was great which’s what got us in the first place. We usually don’t go a place that is under 4 stars but we were visitors to Paris and didn’t have a WiFi to check out the reviews before we walked inside. My wife had margarita pizza (she said it was 7/10) and I had Antipasti Della Casa (i would say it was 7.5/10). Our waiter seems overwhelmed as the other two servers left (maybe shit change idk) and she kept us waiting too long. Not a big deal but she also broke our seltzer glass as she scatters to do a lot. I was afraid the piece of the broken glass might have been inside my shoe. She apologized but it shows how this place is understaffed. We finally got up and walked inside to pay as we were waiting for a while to pay. Even once we were inside, we had to wait for a while as our waiter speaking over a phone and chatting with others! We thought that was rude. For the price we paid and the taste of the food with poor service, this place doesn’t deserve more than 3 stars and...
