I was only in Paris for 3 days but this place stands out to me because of how terrible the service was.
We went on June 19th and were seated almost immediately but the staff then took about 10 minutes to take our order which was fine. When I ordered water, he asked if we wanted sparkling, still or tap water, to which i replied that I wanted tap water. I then tried to order and Iced Mocha to which he quickly replied that they didn’t have that, even though the menu stated that all the drinks in that section were available hot AND iced?? So I just ordered a classic Iced Spanish Latte and a rose pistachio cake.
20 minutes later, the server who seated us served us a bottle of still water. I had to call her back over and tell her that we ordered tap water, and she tried to convince us that what she gave us was correct. After a few more words, she replied with “ahhh, you want the FREE one” then she took the bottle back and replaced it with a jug of tap water.
Another 10 minutes went by and a different server came and started putting down all the components of an Iced Pistachio Spanish Latte. I had to tell her that I only ordered the classic iced spanish latte and not the pistachio version. She then tried arguing with me that this was what I ordered and that it is a spanish latte. Like what is going on? I only ordered 3 things and 2 of them are already wrong and they were being rude to me when it was not my mistake at all.
She then very reluctantly took it back to the kitchen. She returned 5 minutes later with the correct order, but proceeded to slam all the cups on the table and my friend even saw her ROLL HER EYES at me as she walked away. The whole time i was making sure to apologize and say thank you whenever they corrected the order even though it wasn’t my fault, but that was wayyyy over the line.
I really don’t know if they were trying to scam us by giving us things that cost more so we would have to pay more but it certainly felt like it. A super disappointing experience especially since this is a renowned chain of cafes. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful display case...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place after seeing it on Instagram and made my bf walk across the city with me to reach it. When we arrived and found it at the top of a department store i was totally underwhelmed. I was expecting pretty scenery all over but there were only two small flower walls and if you didn't get to sit at those, it was just like a regular chain coffee shop. Was surprised to read you could only stay for 45 mins, which meant if you wanted a girls social catch up there (the main market i'd say), that couldn't happen. We were shown to a table of two that was literally a foot away from another table, all crammed in. No social distance possible at all. (A couple were seated the other side of us but left straight away after being shown the table). The waiter didn't say anything to us.. No hello, welcome, have you been before etc. It took us a few minutes to realise he wasn't coming back with menus and instead you had to scan the qr code on the table. Only one of our phones worked with this so we had to keep passing a phone between us to choose what we wanted. It then took a further 15 mins to order as the waiter totally bypassed us and was taking other people's orders who came in after us... When the food and drink came, that was all good, though very pricey for a slice of cake! Most expensive cake I've ever ordered! We could hear the manager telling the waiter off for taking so long to take our order, which was a bit unprofessional. Our bill then never came so we ended up getting it at the till as we left. Potential to be so great with a really cool menu, but not delivered well at all. A few pleasantries really isnt difficult to keep your customers happy. Won't be back or...
Read moreThe decor is so lovely and the food and drinks were pleasant, but the service was TERRIBLE.
My daughter and I ordered dessert and drinks. Her French toast came out along with her smoothie and my drink of hot tea. However, no one brought my fruit tart over. No one came when I pressed the 'call for service' button - twice! I called to the waitress when she passed - she looked at me an totally ignored me!
I then observed her on her phone and sorting cutlery. I approached to ask for my tart - she dismisivly said it was on its way and continued what she was doing - without asking where I was sitting or what we were waiting for. A few minutes later, she then went to the display cabinet and picked out macaroons with her bare hands (no tongs or gloves or hand-washing prior) and put them in a bag, which she handed to a customer. Not hygienic at all.
When we had finished the toast and our drinks - my tart STILL hadn't come. I approached the bar to ask the barristers there. They said to ask the manager. I approached the manager and explained that we were still waiting and had now finished our drinks and my daughter had finished her food.
He apologised and brought my tart over - but no offer to compensate me for the ridiculous wait and terrible service, or at least to refill my tea so I could enjoy the tart with my drink as intended. If I hasn't already paid, I would have just left without it. Ridiculous for such a small order to struggle so much and require so many requests. Ruined the experience.
Such a shame that despite nice food and fancy decor, they don't have the staff to carry off a high...
