We arrived hungry after the visit of the Notre Dame around noon and asked a waiter if we can have seats outside. He handed us the menu and was very polite. We also asked if we can smoke here and he agreed.
When the menu was handed - the cheaper items (Crepes) were not available between 12 and 3 pm and were ONLY available if you pick another item from the menu. All items were around 20 €. That gives the experience already a weird taste...
when we looked through the menu a staff member showed up and explained very rude that we can't smoke because the smoke would get into the restaurant. He was angry with us and slightly aggressive mumbling words we couldn't understand, after we explained that we only speak English. That absolutely made us feel not welcome anymore. And quickly ruined the mood after a wonderful day so far.
I had a simple Cesar salad, with very bland tasting chicken and leafs I didn't eat because they were brown.
The toilet visit was an "adventure" itself (pictures attached) since half the toilet in the ladies room was missing.
I can NOT recommend this restaurant. There are many other restaurants that treat you like guests and not cash cows.
➕ Close to the Notre Dame Cathedral in a really nice neighborhood. ➕ Some waiters are REALLY doing a good job. ➕ The Quiche that was ordered by my husband was in his opinion good.
➖ Food priced on time limits to make more money at lunch times. ➖ The food I ordered was prepped without love and care, and tasted bland. Some of the salad leaves had even brown spots. ➖ A very rude employee that made us feeling very uncomfortable. ➖ Toilets without a seat in the Ladies room ?? REALLY??? 😭
What hit me the most was the treatment we experienced as tourists at this place. 💔💔 The friendliness and the feeling to be welcome as a guest is 50 % of the experience. I can forgive a "not so well done" dish easily if the experience and overall...
Read moreUsually one to just star on a review when the food is good. But my word the experience I had at this place. The server was one of the rudest people I've ever met (old guy with glasses and curly hair). All charming at first and asked us did we want menus. As soon as he realised we were just in for coffee his attitude totally changed. Tutting under his breath and laughing off a request for non dairy milk from one of us. He threw down our coffes and never returned back. We had to go inside to request to pay. He then arrived out threw down the card machine and turned his back to us so deliberately and obnoxiously. I've never felt like planting someone a punch more in my life. But hey I'm a lover not a fighter, hence why I usually leave good reviews. Please stay away from this place and give your money to another charming...
Read moreWonderful lunch, great hospitality! I arrived at my nearby lodgings too early to meet my host, so I decided to get lunch and coffee. The host allowed me to park my bags in a corner and suggested the daily special, a boudin noir with potatoes and fried apples. It was the perfect comfort food for a cold gray day, very rich and savory. Portion size was perfect, and the apples were a great foil for the super rich sausage and onions. The whipped potatoes were great for that comfort food feel, and a roasted tomato added color and punch to the plate. I also followed the recommendation for the hot apple tart, which had a crunchy streusel topping, apples just tender enough but not mushy, and a scoop of good ice cream. I felt comfortable lingering over my meal and coffee. Definitely worth a...
