I visited this restaurant three years ago and was eager to return on this trip. As a solo female traveler, this restaurant became my go to spot with great food, reasonable prices and extremely welcoming service.
Yesterday I returned with my partner. Our first day of arriving so we were looking for a sure thing. I took my partner here. We sat outside looking out onto the greenery of the Seine River. We order the cheese plate and the chicken as our main. I had a couple of glasses of Chablis while my partner had a lager to start and then a glass of Pinot noir. The food was just what we needed. Fresh and delicious! We absolutely looooved the cheese plate variety!
When it came time to pay, things took a turn of discomfort. Our server approached us and asked how much tip we wanted to leave? We did our homework to understand how gratuities work. We also had already been to another restaurant for lunch and didn't experience this question. The server proceeded to go into a long drawn out explanation almost lecturing us about he doesn't receive any tips etc. it was such an awkward end to our relaxing dinner. We noticed that he did not approach other tables like this when they were paying. I felt slightly taken advantage of being a tourist in this case but maybe this was just this server's approach.
Anyway, we won't be returning this trip. We will try other places.
It was a disappointing end to a lovely relaxing meal. Can't say enough good things...
Read moreWe ordered an americano, hot chocolate and a croissant. They came with nice presentation and looked okay aesthetically. However, the hot chocolate didn’t have the best taste, also, the croissant was very average. Then you can’t go wrong with an americano so that was all good and refreshing. Therefore, it was just your average cafe so nothing out of the ordinary.
Sitting outside during a sunny day is very relaxing and this cafe. Also, it can be used as a break point when heading to or from the Notre-Dame de Paris. All cafes closer to Notre-Dame are usually very busy and can’t enjoy sitting outside when there are crowds of tourists walking by.
Our waiter was wonderful, perfect for tourists and provided a great service while making very welcoming environment. However, I believe only one of the staff know how to speak English, so only they can serve you well.
The prices are reasonable (based off the drinks and croissant) and card payment is available so need to to bring cash.
The cafe design is quite nice, the outside seating was very appealing and when I went inside to pay the bill, it seemed warm and comfortable.
I would recommend to come for a coffee break and enjoy the good weather,...
Read moreAfter a super tour (with Paris Walks) of Notre Dame, we wanted to escape the hubbub of the cathedral square and so headed to Ile de St Louis for lunch. We decided not to consult our electronic resources but to follow our instincts--a good choice in this instance!
Fellow diners were a mix of locals and tourists like us.
At Le Lutetia, we had warm goat cheese on toast and a nice salad, with mixed greens, ham, tomato wedges, and green beans. And, surprise! Pate on top. Lovely.
While sipping the last of our wine and water, we enjoyed people-watching as passers-by negotiated the curbs and traffic. If you need one before your next activity, there's a toilet downstairs, always a bonus when...
