We ate here on Sunday night and had one of the worst dining experiences in Paris. We were served by a tall waiter who was extremely rude and condescending, especially towards foreigners. (We noticed that he was really rude to other diners too). He initially mistakened us as foreigners and treated us really rudely but after we responded in French, he was taken back and treated us less rudely. When preparing to pay at the end of our meal, the waiter was extremely petty (probably about the incident earlier) and decided to give us the receipt but then proceeded to make us wait without processing the card payment even though we were ready. (He left without any explanation even though we presented our card) In the meantime, he served multiple other customers and walked past us at least 4 times without any indication that he was going to help us with the payment. It felt like he was ignoring us on purpose to be as petty as possible. After a longer wait than necessary, he processed our payment and didn’t say au revoir and bonne soirée despite saying it...
Read moreI found my new favorite salad thanks to Le Marivaux - Nicoise salad. I had never had one before and decided to give it a try, here. It was absolutely delicious. Generally, I'm thinking just being in Paris makes the food taste better, but this salad was definitely a treat and made me want to find someone home that could make this salad as soon as I return. This place was definitely memorable.
One other note, I placed my bag down near the table, and the host indicated I should move the bag closer to me and the table. He new were were American tourists and I consider this type of attention and courtesy truly outstanding. In general, the service we received in Paris was consistently great and the service people kind to us (definitely not like the things we'd heard about rude Parisian service...completely opposite, in fact). This type of attention wasn't the exception in Paris, but the rule. I felt very welcome on my holiday, and at...
Read moreThe best thing about this place is the service. Nothing else. I was desperate to just have something small to eat in the "witch hour" when everything is shut between lunch and dinner, leave alone on a Sunday. Probably the worst croque monsieur i have ever had in my life. Burnt toast, hardly any ham to speak of. First the guy told me kitchen is closed, so no fries only salad, then he came to say, rejoice, they will make it for me. I couldn't care less for the chips, but hilariously, what I got was some left over, nearly cold, stale chips on the plate - God knows where they dig it up from (I hope not rubbish- but after realising all of the above after just one chip - for sake of my health and sanity, I just left it on the plate. See what I mean from my photo. Salad (when I say salad, I mean few mixed lettuce leaves) was the only truly edilble thing...
