Eating here was our folly! I am writing this review as a warning to others who don’t believe the negative reviews. We thought they were likely being fussy, but no, the negative comments are true. There are so many other bistros in the area, so it would be best to visit one of them. There are three in a row on this small stretch, and my husband and I walked by and picked this one as it seemed the busiest and yet the least commercial. However, it did seem questionably inexpensive for the area…
The food is what you pay for, though overpriced even at that. However, the service was what was unforgivable though ultimately very laughable. The wine was plonked down on the table - fine, it was the house wine. When our soup arrived, so did the burgers, at the same time. There was no adherence to the custom of wanting to eat a meal at leisure and no apology - it was very much get in, get out. The burger was already cold. It was clear that it has probably been waiting around in the kitchen.
The place was very popular though, especially with young people, and no one else seemed to mind. It could have been that this rude service was for tourists only, but that seems like it would have taken too much effort, and it was clear that the wait staff were giving no effort. We found it funny but equally we travel to Paris quite often so one bad meal is not the end of the world. However, if this had been a special trip, it could have ruined the evening and you can eat far better in...
Read moreThis restaurant is close to our hotel Elysees Union. We went there twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. The place is small and dark with tables are close together. The menu has almost everything you want to eat and the prices are quite inexpensive, no wonder it's crowded when we got there. It seems like a lot of local people eat here. This is the first time I try French Tartare (ground raw beef), it's not like carpaccio, it's a little weird to taste at first, like raw burger. I did not finish the portion because it wasn't tasty like carpaccio. The onion soup is excellent, I really like this one and my daughter too. It's the best I've tasted so far in any restaurants. My wife duck leg (normally duck breast in wine sauce) is extremely tasty, they marinated just right and tender because it's dark meat. She liked it a lot. My daughter had the chicken leg that was quite tasty, she liked it a lot. In France we have to try escargots and we did, very tasty and tender, excellent dish. The baguettes are so good that we keep asking for more LOL. The drink was excellent. The wine wasn't as good as NAPA. The next morning we tried the breakfast special for $15 euros and it was nice, coffee, orange, eggs and bacons, the bacons were not crispy as in the State, but the eggs were so good. The service here is very good, people are quite attentive and fast. We will definitely come back here again when we visit Paris for the...
Read moreThe service here is the worst ever of hundreds of restaurants I have experienced in recent years in Paris. The staff didn’t respond to requests and made me wait a long time. I waited at the door for about 5 minutes to be received, but no one came to say anything, not even with a smile. Then, I waited another 10 minutes for someone to check the bill. Meanwhile, the three servants were chatting and laughing at the bar, treating anyone who attempted to call them inattentively (even on purpose).
They should put more effort into training their staff and improving their service. However, given its cheap price, this might be a slight forgivable aspect (as the budget should be spent on something more useful, right? Or you could say the cheap price here is a perfect match with its poor service.) The staff here gave me the impression that they are just high school dropouts who don’t know how to treat people properly and are incapable of controlling their emotions, serving without any proper manners.
A place of disrespect and disgrace. I would never come to this place again and would not recommend anyone with a day of good moods and happiness to come...
