Strolling through Old Tbilisi, we stumbled into this little Georgian spot — tiny indoor tables, everyone squeezed in shoulder-to-shoulder, but that’s part of the fun. Feels like eating in grandma’s living room… if grandma, mom, and son were all running the place at once. 💁‍♀️👩‍🍳👨‍👦

Tourists everywhere, couples even grab a bench outside and turn it into a street-side dinner date. Pretty charming.

🍕 The kids loved the khachapuri — less salty than most places, super cheesy, and honestly addictive. 🐖 The ojakhuri pork? Next-level good. 🌮 The “Mexican appreciation dish”? Let’s just say… Georgia should stick to Georgia.

Overall: food’s legit, kids gave it their seal of approval, and even with the door open (AC on but fighting a losing battle), it’s still a vibe. Would come back for the...

Honestly guys, I have no idea who provided non-5-star rating so that this lovely family restaurant got less than 5, but this is truly a gem of Tbilisi old town area. We found it randomly just by exploring the streets and finding something for a lunch, but when we first tried the food here we couldn't stop and came back again and again within our short 4-days stay in Tbilisi. All the dishes we tried were fantastic, especially Khinkali, Fruit drink and Khachapuri. We visited many restaurants in Tbilisi and Batumi, and Khinkali from Saxlis Gemo were really the greatest of all. Last day when we were leaving Tbilisi and had to go to the seashore, even though we were limited in time, we came back last time to have a fabulous lunch here in Saxlis Gemo, and that was a perfect finish for our...

This is easily one of the best restaurants we found in Tbilisi. Saxlis Gemo is more than just a place to eat; it's an experience. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and intimate, making you feel like you've been welcomed into a Georgian home. The staff are the heart of the place – exceptionally friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. Most importantly, the food is phenomenal. Over two visits, we had the chance to try multiple dishes, and each one was better than the last. You can taste the quality and care put into the cooking. If you're looking for an unforgettable meal in a clean, charming, and welcoming environment, you cannot go wrong with Saxlis Gemo. Highly...

A fantastic bustling and family owned restaurant on a small side street in Tbilisi. The food is absolutely delicious, and a bargain too. Whilst the kharcho and shkmeruli don't have lots of pieces of meat in them, that is no cause for complaint at GEL20 (c.GBP5.50) a portion! Besides, you get plenty of the delicious sauce to eat with ghomi or a khachapuri (I highly recommend the adjarian style). The service is efficient but friendly. The restaurant is regularly very busy with only one or two (often only one) covering the front of house - allowances should be made for that! Highly recommended for a delicious and inexpensive meal in the centre of Tbilisi.
