This visit happened on a Wednesday afternoon at 3:30-4:30. When I walked in and said for 1 person, the lady at the door asked if inside or outside, I said inside and she just said the to your left. I figured any open spot at this point, I went and found an empty spot, sat down, nobody asked or said anything. There was a QR code on the table, I scanned it and it brought up the menu but no ordering option. Sat there looking at the menu for a good 2-3 minutes and got uncomfortable. Someone finally came by and said that table hasn’t been cleaned yet….err it looked clean to me, but w/e I wasn’t going to trip. She didn’t even point me to another “clean” table so I found a different table. Sat there and finally someone came by to ask if I want to order or drink. That was a rough beginning. The food I got the sausage platter, 1 each of their beer, 2 pretzels. Food was okay. Not great or not bad, it’s okay for bar food. The older gentleman that served me was cool. He tried to explain the items for me even though the me u’s in English. He recommended me drinks, and since I wasn’t sure, he even brought me a sample of the season beer. Glad he did cause that beer was great. I ended up getting one. If it wasn’t for his hospitality, this whole experience would’ve gone to shit, especially with over 20k+ reviews. So I thank you kind sir! Sorry didn’t get your name. Okay, food: was just like any similar establishment Service: could use some work, but then again they are dancing between being a beer garden and dine in restaurant. Atmosphere: for being dead afternoon at 3:30, it was still pretty lively and high energy.

This is one of the most touristy Brauhauses in Berlin and for a reason. It is located near Alexanderplatz. If you are visiting Berlin for a day or 2 and want to find the place with German food, beer, vibes, then this place is definitely for you. The Brauhaus is huge inside and to be prepares, it is loud. Most people are drinking and laughing and sometimes even dancing to live music if you are at the right time. Unfortunately it could get so loud to the point you are having trouble hearing the person next to you and end up with a soaring throat next day from screaming They have some of the best beer in town and the food menu has all the classical German dishes. We got both the Pork and Beef Schnitzel, which were crispy on the outside, had the right thickness and texture as well as juicy on the inside. You can't leave without trying the classical käsespätzle, topped with crunchy bacon bits, fried onions and chives, yummy! Yes I know I made you hungry. For dessert, we ordered Kaiserschmarrn, and I won't delve in detail with this one. All you need to know is that it's fluffy and tasty. You won't regret ending your meal with it. You have to go and try it for yourself. The service can get very slow at times, and the plates can often confused with others. Understandable though due to how busy the Brauhaus gets, especially in the weekends. So just a heads up to make sure your order is right before the waitress leaves the table, otherwise Goodluck! Whenever I visit, it's usually a great experience and I recommend it to all tourists visiting Berlin at least for the first time!

I stopped by Hofbräu Wirtshaus Berlin for a quick lunch, expecting a great experience given its reputation as one of Germany's iconic beer brands. Unfortunately, the reality was quite disappointing. Since I don’t drink, I only ordered food, and I couldn’t help but notice the server's slightly annoyed expression and tone when they realized I wasn’t ordering beer. To make matters worse, despite the restaurant being nearly empty with just three tables occupied, it took over 20 minutes to get the bill. The server’s attitude was made even worse by their not-so-subtle hints about wanting a tip, even though tipping isn't mandatory in Germany. I was determined to dive deeper into German cuisine, not wanting to give in to my friends who joked that Berlin’s staple food is kebabs. But by the end of this meal, I found myself wishing I had just gone to the kebab place I’d been meaning to try instead. We ordered the Gulash Soup, Currywurst, and Fried Leberkase Meatloaf. The Gulash Soup was the highlight, with rich flavors and a comforting taste compared to the others. However, the Currywurst was, quite frankly, the CurryWORST. It tasted like it was drowning in ketchup mixed with Worcestershire sauce, with no trace of the spices that should give it a curry-like flavor. It was just a bland sausage sitting in a sea of sauce and fries. As for the Meatloaf, the star of that dish was actually the Bavarian Potato Salad that came with it, flavorful and well-seasoned, far outshining the main course. At this point, I feel like this place is probably best for beer enthusiasts. But if the food quality is anything to go by, even beer lovers might want to think twice before visiting.

Food was fine, super heavy German sausages, pork knuckle, we got a platter to share, and tried the schnitzels which were all on the drier side, but the cold potato salad complimented it well. Beers were HUGE!!! Such a fun dinner though, I asked for tap water and the waiter said no. The pipes are too old for tap. Which baffles me because there is a standard for tap water in Germany but sure whatever. The band was lovely!! Super fun music and made it all the better in terms of a fun atmosphere and vibe! The biggest issue I had was the tipping culture, I was under the impression tipping occurs only when service is above and beyond exceptional. This isn’t America, waiters all get paid and it is not up to the table to pay the waiters. So when I was confronted with whether or not I wished to tip, I didn’t think too much of it as service was fine but nothing amazing and note worthy. You get paid to do a job and you did it, you didn’t kill it or go out of your way for our table so I didn’t think a tip was necessary. I tip at fine dining establishments or when I feel a waiter or waitress is exceptional. When I didn’t tip I was met with a frown, ‘something wrong with the service?’ To which I replied no, it was fine. Then when my company asked for a receipt the waiter said ‘here is your receipt without a tip because the lady insisted no tip’ I was appalled at the audacity to feel so entitled to other peoples money for doing a job you are already being paid to do. Staff better check themselves because half of them literally look like they don’t want to be there.

Delicious journey from many years ago in Munich, where I had the pleasure of savoring the authentic and unforgettable flavors of Hofbräu Wirtshaus. The German pork knuckle they served was a masterpiece – crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It's undoubtedly one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had in Germany. Eager to relish this taste again, I decided to visit the Hofbräu Wirtshaus branch in Berlin. Stepping into the establishment, I was immediately captivated by the interior design – a perfect blend of simplicity and German charm, reminiscent of a historically rich German pub. In contrast to the rustic atmosphere of the Munich location, the Berlin branch exuded a more modern vibe while maintaining an uncompromised food quality. As I indulged in the aromatic German pork knuckle, I was once again enchanted by its intoxicating flavor. The crispy exterior and the burst of succulent juices with every bite delivered an incredible and satisfying experience. Although the Berlin branch showcased a more contemporary design compared to its Munich counterpart, it remains a worthwhile destination. Whether you prefer the traditional charm of an old German pub or the modern urban atmosphere, Hofbräu Wirtshaus successfully preserves the essence of German cuisine. If you find yourself in the captivating city of Berlin, consider experiencing the rich ambiance here and savoring the delicious taste of this German classic. It's undoubtedly a culinary journey that will satisfy both your taste buds and your soul!
