After reading some reviews about bad service I was curious how they'd do. Here's what happened (TLDR below): I ordered 'Banh Canh Hap', which is 'steamed udon noodles with tofu, seitan, various vegetables and soy sauce', according to the menu (9.50 EUR). While ordering I mentioned that I didn't have enough cash money with me, and if it was ok if I would pay that particular item with card. I was assured this wasn't a problem. The noodles were on my table in exactly 5 minutes, blazingly fast. Bonus points for presentation: it came in a round box with cover, which kept the food warm (see photos). The vegetables looked fresh, a large amount of tofu. Small, thin stripes of seitan, that tasted well. I would've preferred more seitan and less tofu, but I can't really say they put in too little seitan. I just would've been more happy if the seitan parts were bigger and the portion was a bit larger. Now some of the vegetables (broccoli, carrot, etc) had clearly not been steamed long enough, which is unsurprising considering it was ready in 5 minutes (yes, I always time it). I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to these kind of things, but the broccoli was so crackingly undercooked that I had to say something. To be honest I was happy I could really put them to the test now: how would they deal with such a situation? I only mentioned the broccoli and when the waiter made subtle gestures of wanting to take the plate with him to fix it, I suggested they bring me a small supplement of the broccoli instead. This time I didn't time it, but I didn't have to wait very long. The waiter came back with a plate filled with broccoli and other vegetables (see photo), all properly steamed. Needless to say I was pleased. Now as you may have guessed, there's one last thing to mention: when I presented my card to pay, the waiter (not the same as the one that had taken my order) told me that card payments were only possible from ten euros onwards. I then explained that his colleague had assured me it wouldn't be an issue, so he went inside to check. He came back with the answer that it wasn't an issue, I paid and left being a happy customer! TLDR: Food is presented and tastes well, way more tofu than seitan, under-steamed food problem is fixed by serving additional plate with large selection of properly...
Read moreTerrible service. Waiter started an argument with me after the I complained that we waited 40 minutes between finishing our meal and getting attention from the waiter again. We wasted the entire hour before our movie started - 30 minutes before our plates were collected, and then another 10 waiting for a drinks menu and then another waiter. In this time we could have had another drink and a desert. Instead we got got an incredibly rude waiter who came up with every argument imaginable, blaming us, and then suddenly attacking my language, accusing me of swearing at him (which is completely not true). He then made some ridiculous song and dance about me swearing which was both threatening and confusing. How can you swear any less than zero. Its like he was some Kindergarten teacher. I had no idea what he wanted from me and he was becoming incredibly aggressive, and well, weird.
I hope he was drunk, otherwise he has severe emotional problems and should not be in a service role.
Maybe he should learn the phrase "I'm sorry for the delay, we were a bit busy tonight, and we'll try not to let it happen again"
Instead I walked out of that place incandescent with rage.
And to top it off, it sounded like he called me an "idiot" under his breath.
Without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had in...
Read moreI visited this place for dinner in May. The food was amazing but the service was so-so. The venue has a big sign on the shop window saying they don't accept credit cards. Me and my partner had debit cards issued by modern UK banks (Monzo and Starling) so we double checked with the waiter if that's OK to pay by debit card and they said it was fine. So we've ordered food and when the time to pay came another waiter said we can't pay by card and we had to pay by cash. My partner went outside to find an ATM machine, and while I was waiting, I saw another waiter (not the one that served our table) bringing a POS card reader to other tables. When my partner got back and we paid in cash, I asked our waiter why other tables could pay by card and I was told that the card should be issued by a German bank. I will leave it up to you to judge the accuracy of this statement. At the very least all waiters should provide the same information and the shopwindow should display accurate...
