Restaurant Platzhirsch am Schlosseck — Restaurant in Dresden

Honest review: We’ve eaten at many restaurants, restaurants with awards and 5 star hotels. This one tries to be a fancy restaurant but rather falls into the mediocre category unfortunately overall. I’ve had the paniert chicken thighs and my partner had the fish filet. The chicken was 5/10 and even though the thighs are one of the most tasty parts of a chicken this one was a little tasteless. Additionally, it was overcooked on one side and had this unpleasant “meaty” taste sometimes. The side of sweet potato fries was rather good however and it was accompanied by a basic salad without any oil. An important note is that almost all the utensils including the water glasses had a very bad odour of egg, probably due to a dirty dishwasher. Also, we did ordered a desert, crème with crumbles and plum but again it had a rather weird taste as if they put a little bit of onions inside which also lasted in the aftertaste, never experienced something like that before. The bill was 67€ and despite being in perfect location it barely misses the opportunity to be an elevated restaurant in the city of Dresden making the overall eating experience not unfortunately...

The restaurant was nice, one might say “stylish” but that is about all the good I can say. I feel that the chef was trying too hard to make the menu “something special”. Everything on the menu had a strange twist so I ordered the beef stroganoff as the safe option, it came decomposed, with béchamel sauce, over cooked noodles ,confusing pickles and onions that still had the skin on it… I ate the steak and left the rest. The vegetables on my mother’s plate were dripping with oil and she ordered a schnitzel that came out as a cordon blue. It left us hungry, confused and unsatisfied. The service was no better. The waitress brought us our food and we never saw her (or anyone again). She did not check on our food or if we were pleased (I would have sent it back and ordered a soup or salad instead) we were not able to order anymore drinks and if we wanted to get a dessert or coffee it took her 25 minutes to ask us and by that time we just wanted to leave. One of the worst experiences with service I've seen. Firstly, we were waiting our waiter to come to the table and take an order for maybe 10-15 min. It took really long, so I had to run to the bakery in front of the street to buy water because there was hot outside. Then I was waiting for a burrata salad for 20 min. When I asked our waiter how long more that was going to take, he replied 10 min more and left the table before I could even say that I don’t really have time to wait and don’t really want it in 30 min. As a response from the waiter I’ve heard “we’re restaurant not a McDonald… so it’s ok to wait” and “you’re not alone at the restaurant”

Well, I'm not even saying that this dish is literally a piece of Burrata on top of chopped vegetables and definitely doesn't take 30 min to prepare. The second thing is, if you market yourself as a restaurant, act like one. I’m definitely not coming to your place again and won’t...
