Brewery Schumacher is located in a large 3-story concrete city building. In front are several high top tables along the front sidewalk, under a slopes awning. They have large blue flags for the brewery, and a large yellow lettered sign over the entrance. To the left is a gated driveway leading back to a courtyard in front of the brewery. Overhead is a large circular window surrounded by brick, and to the right is a row of several tall outdoor steel fermenters. Inside is their large copper brewing vessel. Behind the restaurant and near the brewery is their small outdoor Biergarten which has wood tables and a large blue umbrella. The Schumacher brand has been brewed since 1836, and I think it is a delicious Altbier, the oldest in Dusseldorf. They also feature a nice 2nd house beer which was added as an anniversary ale in 2013, called 1838er which is also dark but lighter bodied. If you just come for the beer there is a space for several high top tables just left after you enter. The staff is quick to offer you a beer, and these are served in small glasses. In the center near the entrance is the service bar where the waiters pour the small beer from wooden barrels from the brewery. Behind this in the center of the building is their open kitchen which produces a good offering of traditional German cuisine. It seems to be a popular place for dinner. On the right is their large dining room which has plenty of tables. The decor is like a traditional beer hall with wood panel walls, large paintings and soft lighting. The place is loud with happy conversations, a good place for a meal and drinks with...

My husband and I visited Brauerei Schumacher last evening after making a reservation for two under the name Stevens for 19:00 through their website's contact form. We received an email confirmation and were excited for a nice dinner, but unfortunately, things took a bad turn as soon as we arrived.
The individual at reception was immediately unprofessional and rude. Despite showing him the confirmation email, he couldn’t find our reservation in his system. His frustration was clear as he responded with an extremely aggressive tone, rolling his eyes and speaking to us in a hostile manner.
Regrettably, this behavior led to an escalation, and we ended up leaving without dining. It’s incredibly disappointing, especially considering that after looking online, I found several reviews describing similar experiences with borderline aggressive service. This is such a shame because those same reviews consistently praise the food.
I understand that busy environments can be stressful, but the level of hostility we encountered was unacceptable. We had been looking forward to our evening at Brauerei Schumacher, but this interaction completely ruined the experience.
I hope management addresses this issue, as we were truly looking forward to enjoying the food and...
Read morePossibly one of the most popular restaurants in Düsseldorf! Interesting historical Interior design, it was extremely busy ( it is always busy every time I walk pass the restaurant ! We had difficulty to reserve the table at first, eventually booked a table two days later. The restaurant was extremely busy when we arrived, almost got sent out because my colleagues had suitcases with them. Luckily I told them we reserved a table and I spoke German. The service was quick and efficient. We were served very quickly and the foods were delicious, the beer and other drinks were good., too. The quality of food and beer were fantastic. No doubt though it has good business! However, I have very mixed feelings about this historical restaurant. The service could have been more friendly. If you don’t speak German, I would recommend you to check out and to study the Englisch menus online before you go. The dishes are all typical German foods, all very good. I would definitely recommend the traditional German dish “ Schweinehaxe”( Pork knuckle)! My colleagues were all amazed with the taste and the portion of the dish! The portion is huge! None of them...
