I visited Hyde Brunch, intrigued by its claim to offer an English breakfast experience reminiscent of London. The decor was charming and well-executed, setting a pleasant scene for our holiday brunch.
We had a reservation and were seated without issue despite the holiday crowd. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and the English Breakfast. The presentation was appealing, but the taste didn't quite hit the mark. The English Breakfast, advertised with turkey bacon on the menu, lacked the authenticity I expected from a meal inspired by London. The absence of traditional pork elements, although replaced by turkey as stated, still felt incongruent with the thematic promise. Also, the whole wheat bread served was too soft and would have benefited from toasting to add some texture.
Service was friendly but too slow; we waited over 45 minutes for our food. An offer for more drinks was made just before the meal arrived, but our additional coffees were unfortunately served after we’d finished eating, adding to our disappointment.
Further, the cleanliness of the restrooms was lacking during my visit, which might be an area for improvement, especially during busy times.
Regarding the billing, there was a misunderstanding about the menu offerings. I initially ordered a flat white, which was not on the menu. Instead of informing me of this, I was charged for a cappuccino plus an espresso, totaling EUR 6.30, which felt steep and somewhat deceptive.
Overall, while the atmosphere at Hyde Brunch was enjoyable and the staff were amicable, the discrepancies between expectation and execution, combined with the service delays and billing issue, made for a less-than-ideal dining experience. A bit more attention to detail could perhaps elevate this establishment to meet the expectations...
Read moreGreat new spot in Düsseldorf. It's not easy to find a full English breakfast in Düsseldorf, and Hyde delivers it, with all the right elements and flavour. It's not the UK, but it's a fair version. It comes with a full basket of lightly toasted sourdough bread with butter. All for 15.90€. Good value for money. We also had the Eggs Benedict, which we were happy with. Super generous portion: big sourdough slice (which I would have liked to be - more - toasted), big chunks of avocado (really liked that, it was not the common undetectable green spread), two (or even three) slices of bacon (the English version), two perfectly poached eggs (runny yolks, perfectly cooked whites) and a well seasoned Hollandaise sauce (I would prefer the original recipe and let go of the curry notes in that). Orange juice is freshly squeezed (nice to see these days), although a bit watery.
Atmosphere is nice. Music volume seems to have been adjusted after an earlier review. Only thing i would wish for would be more light (it's more on the intimate / dinner style, over a more rise & shine breakfast mood).
Service is fast and kind. The team doesn't seem to speak English, but that did not affect at all our communication or the friendliness.
Overall a great option for brunch or light lunch (they also have omelettes and burgers)....
