Okay, let's start with the positives. I went there in the evening with my girlfriend and the kitchen was still open around 10:30pm, so props to that as the other places were already closed. The food was good, the location was good and the interior was well decorated. Overall nice atmosphere. However, I can't say anything good about the service. The waiter (male, dark hair and beard) who was responcible for the balcony area upstairs on Friday, June 7th, was probably the most careless and unprofessional waiter I have ever seen. His tone was rude, he told us that we can choose any table we want and when asked if anything on the balcony is free, he simply said: "I don't know, just go and look for yourselves." Then when he eventually came to take our order he seemed impatient and kept on going with his rude and cold tone. So we ordered a soup, a salad and a main dish. The soup and the main dish arrived after some time (imo longer than it should have been) but no salad. After waiting for further 30min we asked again and the guy said "I don't know, I'll look" and never came back. Further 15min in which he didn't appear again and we just asked for the bill, this one still had the salad included (!) No apology on his side, nothing. I love "l'Osteria", I have visited it in other cities and countries, but this particular place should hire their...
Read moreAfter waiting half an hour for an table, which was told before hand but was still badly organized with some guy constantly screaming and other people that came later that also had no reservation having a table before us (?), we didn't get any service so had to wave for a waiter to make our order. The waiting time for the food was a little more than an hour, which for two meals is just really too long. The risotto was really, really bad. Basically rice tasting like salt. Not sure if that is an acquired taste, but I really doubt it. The pizza is just really big. That's about it. Not much toppings or anything. Good taste though, so we ditched the risotto and shared the pizza.
The waiter didn't charge for the risotto, thought that was a nice gesture.
Bar guy was nice.
Saw some reviews that the place just opened. Can't really care about that, it's not like you get a discount because of the mistakes of just being opened. So I can't give them a "discount" in a review.
Note that we visited on a really busy Saturday night, so some hectic service issues aren't out of the ordinary. But they know it's gonna be busy, so they should have more staff to fix most of the...
Read moreThe food was ok. That’s the only thing that was not absolutely horrible. When we arrived, there were at least 4 other groups waiting to be seated and no host could be found. The waiters just ignored everyone. After about 15 minutes waiting, the host and about 3-4 waiters came through the front door (I’m assuming they were having a smoke break) and finally people were moved to their tables. At this point there were about 7 groups waiting. The service was equally bad. The waiter didn’t bother cleaning the table and when we asked, he looked art the table full of crumbs and stuff and just said "This table is clean, no need to do anything”. Mind you, this is a restaurant where the pizzas spill over the plate and touch the tables; it’s kind of their thing. It then took a further 15 minutes to get the menus, another 15 minutes to finally order and then we waited for 1 hour for the food. Finally, we had to ask 3 times before we could actually settle the bill. I’ve been to L’Osteria before and it’s been fine. This one though, just...
