Balthasar Ress Weinbar & Vinothek — Restaurant in Frankfurt

There is nothing I can say bad about this place. It saddens me to read that others had a bad experience. My wife and I first stumbled up this place when she was taking a flight back to the states. We always spend one night at an airport hotel for convenience. So, we always come into the city for a few hours. We love everything about the Balthasar-Ress Winery. Finding this vinothek is phenomenal. We drank several glasses of wine. I learned that they are also making a gin. We bought several bottles of wine a a bottle of gin to try.

The gin is amazing! It scored very high amongst gin experts. I enjoyed it so much that when I came up this past weekend to see a play, I made a side trip here to buy two more bottles of it.

If you love wine, come here and try and then buy some wonderful wines. If you like gin, come here to try it. If you drink both, make this place...

Located in the heart of Altstadt, this is the best spot for a glass of wine and a quick break. The selection was great, and the staff was incredibly friendly!

Since the place is small, finding a seat can be a bit of a challenge, but many people enjoy their wine while sitting on the nearby benches.

One last thing I wanted to mention: as we passed by near closing time, the staff member, after finishing her shift, noticed some broken glasses a little further away from the spot. She immediately picked them up and threw them in the trash. I thought that was such a thoughtful touch—she really went the extra mile!

I’d definitely visit this place again and again....

Pay attention to the bill! They have been charging the double of the price (16€ instead of €8.50) for a glass of red wine. Of course I have doubled checked the wine card to be sure. The price of a glass was €8.50 (or 55€ for the bottle). They have been justifying saying that my glass was a big one. First of all I didn’t ask for a big glass, second there wasnt different in the card between small or big glass for my wine. End of the story: they didn’t say sorry at all and they gave me back €7.50 not before putting away some wine from my glass to make it...
