Located in the heart of Frankfurt, this traditional Hessian restaurant is a wonderful spot to experience authentic local cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a cozy, rustic ambiance that reflects the charm and heritage of the region. Wooden furnishings, warm lighting, and tasteful décor create an inviting setting that's perfect for both casual meals and special occasions.
The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing a great dining experience. Service was prompt and courteous, making us feel well taken care of throughout our visit.
The menu features a fantastic variety of regional delicacies, all prepared with care and rich in flavor. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious — hearty, satisfying, and true to traditional Hessian recipes. The portion sizes were generous and offered great value for money.
Their wine list deserves special mention, offering a well-curated selection of local and international wines that paired beautifully with the meal. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking for a good glass to accompany your dinner, you’ll find something to enjoy.
Overall, it was a memorable dining experience. The combination of authentic food, charming atmosphere, and top-notch service makes this restaurant a standout. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning on our next trip...
Read moreMy review was flagged for removal by the restaurant under "Defamation," so I am now providing a full account of the experience in detail.
On March 18, 2025, I visited a restaurant called Wirtshaus. We sat down at 19:30 and only managed to pay the bill at 22:40—not because we wanted to stay that long, but because we were constantly kept waiting, both to place our order and to receive our food.
The so-called manager explained that the excessive crowd was due to overbooking, but the way he put it made it sound as if it was the customers’ fault, rather than their own mismanagement of reservations. We had a reservation!
As a gesture, he offered us drinks, and we thought the issue was resolved. However, as you can clearly see in the receipt photo, instead of the eight schnitzels we ordered, completely different dishes were brought to our table—things we never asked for. Our food order was canceled after an hour with the excuse that it was unavailable. Then, a dish we did not order was placed on our table with the claim, "We were going to throw it away anyway, so it's on me." Yet, we were charged for it in the end. Most of it went uneaten because it simply didn’t suit our taste.
Am I obligated to eat whatever leftovers the restaurant needs to get rid of? As a customer, how much more mistreatment can I possibly endure?...
Read moreMy review changes after the owner tried to remove it with Google accusing "defamation". If you run a business be responsible for the service you provide, and accept both positive and negative reviews, trying to improve your service instead of manipulating reviews.
What happened just confirms this is a fancy tourist trap. My review was factual and constructive... NOT DEFAMATION.
Original review: Food is good, maybe overpriced but you also pay for the location. Paid 43 euros for a wiener schnizel, beer and coffee.
Service is what will not make me come back. I was alone on a work trip… many tables empty and waiter tried to sit me in a corner along the corridor, with many more comfortable tables available. Then visibly “push” out bringing the bill while still eating, and the cash machine right after… Rude. If single customers are not welcome and you want to keep tables free for possible larger groups to come... just say that and I have dinner in a more friendly place.
Location is great. Restaurant atmosphere is good, food is ok… just the service needs improvement because it can change the experience significantly.
This is a transparent constructive review. I hope it helps improving...
