Amazing German food with great atmosphere!
This restaurant is conveniently located at the heart of Munich with walking distance to many places of interest.
We came here for lunch in a group of four. Although we didn’t make any reservations in advance, we were able to get seated right away. However given the limited seating, I would recommend reservations ahead of time just in case.
The Pork Schnitzels were incredible. Tender pork was wrapped by a golden fried batter. The goat cheese salad was also a perfect complement to the heavy meat and drinks. The beef tartare was heavily seasoned which was a bit surprising and was not our favourite.
The beers were great just like all other places in Munich so nothing else to say there.
The restaurant offers both English and German menus and waiter spoke great English as well.
Highly recommend this place if you are looking for some traditional German food and wanted to have a good...
Read moreI had bad luck here - ordering three courses of extremely mediocre food: the bruschetta with tomatoes had no seasoning or olive oil so was possibly the blandest tomatoes on white toast I've ever eaten. The 'avocado cream' tasted like old avocados. The dumpling main was inedible - the dumplings were like eating flour bound with glue, and despite a terminally long wait for the apple strudel, it wasn't worth the wait; the pastry had the consistency of microwaved pastry (I'm sure it wasn't but it tasted, well, gluey - maybe that's what South Tyrolean food is all about?). My husband loved his meat platter and his beef tartar and we both enjoyed the wine (hence two stars). But for me, I won't be coming back - the food wasn't good enough to justify a second chance, and the service was extremely slow and inattentive. UPDATE - thanks for the quick response to my review, but my note about being slow was not...
Read moreWhat really makes a great restaurant is how they handle things when it goes wrong. Undercooked chicken is not pleasant for a guest and I merely asked the waiter to cook it longer. The waiter brought it back to the table literally a minute or two later, cooler than before. The general passive aggressive feeling was I just needed to deal with it and that I was wrong in my judgement call. Undercooked chicken to the person eating it is pretty clear cut.
The waiter asked how our meal was at the end, and I said it was not good as the chicken was not cooked, he merely smiled and said "you the boss".
It is a shame as we used to really enjoy coming to this restaurant whenever we were in Munich, which is once a month. We...
