BARRUS — Restaurant in Athens

They make a decent expresso and serve some nice biscuits with it as well. However, the most prominent thing about the place is the cocktail menu clearly visible as we sat down. After a late lunch, and being on holiday, we thought, "we could go for a cocktail right now" . We were told they could not serve them that early, in spite of the man next to us drinking what looked like a glass with Bayleys. We were not told from what time the cocktails would be available either. We just sat there, us looking at the waiter and the waiter looking at us... Until we said, we'll have an expresso then. Not the worst treatment we've had, but a cocktail bar that does not sell cocktails?!...

I visited Barrus twice over the past two weeks, largely because of a friend who likes this place. The service is truly disappointing: we were served by the same person, who seems to lack training and is extremely slow. He served me a cup of coffee, and the coffee had spilled, and he did not bother to clean the cup. On both occasions, we sat for 2 hours or so, and the server did not refill our water glasses. We also waited for several minutes for the bill. Excellent location, with a nice view of the edges of the Acropolis, but...

The drinks are excellent, but i cannot recommend the place. We sat down on the couch table, and were informed that they were for parties of more people than two. To our surprise, other parties sat down on these tables, and none of them had three people. To add to the situation, we ordered three drinks and no one else came to the table, and one waiter even acknowledged me calling him, went back inside, and never came out again. When that happened, I just got up, paid my bill, and went to have drinks and give my money to the...
