As places to eat go, this is up there near the top of views and atmosphere. In the shadows of the Acropolis, Dioskouroi is in a good view. As a solo traveller, you often get a look when you ask for a table for one. I did again today. I was given a choice of tables at the back, but I chose a prominent table at the front with two chairs around it. A light lunch with a view. A bottle of Mythos was ordered as well as some bread, a Greek salad, and a bowl of potatoes. The beer arrived quickly as did a little bowl of crisps ( the waiter hadn't put my food to the kitchen, hence the crisps) Once the mix-up was seen, it was sorted quickly. The potatoes turned out to be chips. The Greek salad was as expected, tomatoes, red onion, peppers, and feta cheese with a sprinkle of oregano. I wish that restaurants looked closer at the ingredients coming into them. The tomatoes were not ripe, and this, to be honest, ruined such a simple dish. The feta was alright, nothing special. The bread, a kind of local sourdough, was ok. It turned out I would have a similar bread later this day that knocked socks off of the semi stale offering given at lunchtime. This is a touristy restaurant. That's not a bad thing.

Located on a quiet side street just off a busy walk way, this restaurant offers top notch Greek cuisine. Our server was great, a very personal young man, who helped to give suggestions from the menu and make small talk regarding certain dishes he was surprised we ordered. The Dolma were good, just as I remember from childhood. The vine leaves were softened perfectly and we're tightly wrapped around rice. The dolmas held up well when dipped in tzatziki. For our mains, we chose fried calamari (perfect, no dipping sauce needed, only lemon on top), pesto linguine (perfect al dente, very good when combine on a fork with calamari), and pork steak with fried potatoes. The pork steak was cooked nearly perfectly. The chef got good grill marks on the steak, and was able to render the fat into a very flavourful and crisp rind around the whole steak. The only downside I could think of was the loin area of the steak was very slightly overcooked and dry. Thank you for the complimentary sour cherry dessert to finish out meal!

This time we ordered a traditional salad, chicken souvlaki, and pork gyros. The portions were generous. I’d say the main dish alone is enough, but if you’re feeling a bit hungrier, I’d recommend ordering it as a salad. Everything was very flavorful, as Mediterranean food usually is, full of bold and fascinating tastes. As for the location, it’s easily accessible by metro or through the nearby park. It’s a busy area and very well situated. The place has fans and umbrellas outside, which is great protection from the sun. This time we were served by Manos, a great waiter, very kind and attentive. They also speak English, which is helpful for tourists visiting the area. Our bill came to €46.50 for two people. Each had a main dish and a drink, plus one salad to share. I think the price is quite reasonable, especially for a touristy area.

Staff treated us badly. I was here with family a few weeks back on our last day on holiday and this place left a distinctly bad flavour and spoiled our last day. It is centrally located in a very touristy area. When one of us asked to pay, they were told an obnoxiously high price something like EUR 50 from what I recall for 2 cappus, 1 espresso and some water or something like that. Upon clarification, it then turned out to be less than that €13.50. Maybe it was some kind of misunderstanding but we left somewhat upset because of the tone and manner in which the staff had treated a member of our party. I still thought it was high so in the little time that was left I went back to take a picture of the menu. While the price charged upon request for clarification corresponded to what was advertised (a cappuccino costs whopping €4.50 if you sit in). I did not find the coffee particularly outstanding nor did the service provided warrant this kind of...
