After a few weeks in Athens, this has become our "Cheers" bar. The staff is excellent and so friendly they make us feel at home. The beer selection is very good. Some places may have more beers, but Pulp has a great selection and still at local prices, and they have not only the current popular pale ales, but some nice dark beers on draft. Lot of bottles as well. 4 Euros for a 500ml top end draft beer is unbeatable in Athens, especially this close to a tourist area. Did I mention the staff are excellent? They really make the place great. When there is live music, the musicians take up a lot of the limited space, but the patrons the bar seems to draw make it comfortable even when it is packed. Even when they have live music and there is loud music in a packed crowd, two things I usually dislike, this place pulls off comfortable somehow. Just 1-2 minutes from the Acropolis museum, definitely stop in here for a beer, a drink, or a sausage on your way down the hill. If it is early, you will likely have the place to yourselves, as night life starts late in the city. Like almost everywhere in this part of the world, smoking is permitted, so be prepared for that if you aren't used to it, but the air flow is good enough that even when they are busy it isn't bad. Clean restrooms and English spoken well. Great experience and the best place we have found in the area to get...
Read moreEnded up returning here a few times during a week in Athens. Small but solid and at least somewhat changing selection of local craft beer, friendly staff (who gave good recommendation of other local craft beer spots). Didn't try the food at all, not that there was anything wrong with it, but looked for the most part like dishes I could get in bars in UK so nothing exciting for a tourist who likes trying local cuisine! 70s/80s rock and...
Read moreUsed to be an awesome place. Thought the past years, the prices have gone steadily up and the variety of beers reduced. Last time we went there, we discovered that they have also stopped having Staropramen that was a bit of the signature beer of the place.
Overall, if you are looking for a place to have relatively cheap beer (the basic at 4 euros) and you like rock music, go for it - nothing extravagant but...
