The owner Kostas is the warmest hospitable person you can ever meet - you will walk away feeling like family. Without exaggerating, it is a special place that touched our hearts and souls. How blessed we were it was only a block from our hotel. The atmosphere inside is warm, cozy, and inviting, and the food is not only delicious, but made with love. We sat comfortably near the crackling open hearth fireplace. It was sadly our last night in Greece. We had had great food during our time in Greece, but were a little disappointed in a couple places the last two days that were too touristy near the fountain in Iraklion. We were praying for a good last meal. 😅 We could not have asked for a better one. We had risotto, hortopitas, dakos, lots of wine. I wish I could have tried more, but we were so full. His complimentary chocolate cake is amazing, with something else so tasty and with raki. Prices are reasonable. As a Greek American tourist, I am so thankful for this genuine hospitality and connection we made with Kostas, the owner…and the locals eating there too. 🥰Nothing in the tourist spots comes close to tasting as fresh, authentic, and meaningful. It is NOT even THAT FAR from the tourist center. I highly recommend you branch out, walk down this quiet street until you find the light and life of Plani. Smile and get to know the locals and let them share their hospitality with you. Thank you Kostas! We will forever be grateful for the last memories we made in Greece and for the gift you sent us home with (now filled with olive oil from Kriti). We hope to be...

We went to our hotel rooftop restaurant for a bottle of wine and looked up restaurants nearby and found Plani. Everything about the restaurant gave an authentic Cretan feel and we’ve been in Greece 10 days already seeking out authentic restaurants. Portions were incredibly generous, tasty and cheap! They also had wonderful complimentary desserts with Raki, of course.

Service is authentically Greek where you mostly have to seek them out. Plan to ask for your check which kickstarts the desserts process so we didn’t leave for probably another 30-45 minutes. They did also offer take away which is the first time we’ve been offered that.

Important to note they would not accept credit cards from us so make sure you have enough euros as this was our first experience all trip where cash...

This place is a gem in the center of Heraklion! For over a decade i have being visiting this place for dinner with friends and family, for celebrations or for business appointments, I've consistently been blown away by the quality of the food. It's not just good, it is amazing. Also the portions are big. Incredibly reasonable prices for what you get. But what truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere. The staff and owners are genuinely unique. They make you feel like you are coming home. It's more than just a meal. its an experience. Highly...

This was the first restaurant I ate at after landing in Irákleio. With the evening weather hovering at around 45 F, it was the perfect local tavern to warm up in before calling it a night. Items I ordered that were solid comfort food: -Fresh pita and a plate of warm split pea mash topped with capers, onions and sundried tomatoes. -Risotto with mushrooms, tomato and Cretan apaki (smoked pork) -Dessert and Raki was on the house Everything tasted delicious and the atmosphere was super cozy! Prices were also super affordable!
