My daughter (6) and I visited Crete for her spring break, excited for our first trip to the island. My husband booked a superior sea-view room via Expedia at a premium price, significantly higher than the hotel’s website rate. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing, marked by misleading room allocation, cleanliness issues, and unprofessional service. Upon arrival, we were assigned Room 125 on the first floor, described as a “superior sea-view” room. Instead, it offered a view of rooftops with only a tiny glimpse of the sea—far from the stunning sea views advertised and shown in other guests’ photos, likely from higher floors. We requested a higher-floor room, but after a lengthy discussion, the staff claimed no other rooms were available. Curiously, the hotel’s website showed sea-view rooms still bookable for our dates, raising questions about their allocation process. As a solo parent traveling with a young child, I couldn’t help but wonder if this influenced our treatment. The room itself was unacceptable for a “superior” booking: • Cleanliness Issues: The floor was so dirty that my daughter’s feet turned black after walking from the bathroom to the bed. Cups were cracked and stained, and the initial towels felt filthy, with a long-unused, grimy texture. • Bugs: We found bugs everywhere, leading to itchy bites that required extra showers. This was particularly distressing for my daughter. • Noise: At 2 a.m., loud phone conversations from the front desk woke us, disruptive for a family needing rest. After raising concerns, the front desk provided cleaner towels promptly, delivered by a courteous young staff member—a small positive amid the issues. However, this didn’t offset the overall experience. We’re checking out tomorrow and moving to another hotel. Crete has many wonderful accommodations, and we won’t let this experience dampen our trip. I urge the hotel to address room allocation transparency, cleanliness standards, and staff professionalism. Families deserve better for the price paid. Not worth your money, would not recommend. The view was hideous, it feels like prison! I am here as a tourist, not as a prisoner. It is a GHETTO view, not a city view. I couldn't open the curtains, because every neighborhood can see through every inch of your privacy. It makes this room more suffocating and oppressive. Not only about the view but also the noises. The noises from streets, airplane, hallways, and people next door are crazy. I feel so unsafe and so anxious even in my room. The noises were driving me crazy. Couldn't sleep at all because I feel so anxious and nervous about the noises. Why I need to hear somebody's showering at 1am? You can hear every drop of water flowing and draining when someone in the building uses it. I stayed in comfort room for three nights. And it wasn't a COMFORT room. There's no comfort chair/sofa, no view, no shower robe. Also not enough room for baggage. It was suspicious since the photos were not showing a certain room, they were just random pictures from random rooms. It is not the same. Also the wifi is so slow, moreover the phone signal was weak all over the building. Also the cleaning lady opened my door at 10:20am even though 1. my checkout is 11am 2. it had 'do not disturb' sign on. I felt so embarrassed and exposed. Worst till the end. I am so disappointed to the extent that I wanted a refund. I worked day and night to get here, now I got this. I feel so bad and depressed. Now I need extra $1k for therapy to get help with this traumatic experience. Breakfast was mid and simple. But if considering this is a four-star-hotel, it is not a good one for sure. I don't think that my standards are too high. The standard that this hotel was given a four star by is certainly not reliable at all. If you're from any big city and have standards of middle or upper middle class, please reconsider. It will be a total nightmare.

The hotel was overall a good choice for a couple of nights right in the heart of Heraklion city and extremely convenient for visiting both the old and new ports. However, I am glad I was only here for two nights and spent the rest of my trip in another, more premium, hotel elsewhere on the island. The Superior Double Room Sea View we had was surprisingly small with very little in it except a bed and a small desk. The balcony was literally just big enough for the two chairs provided (the remainder was occupied by an air conditioner) and there was hardly enough leg room to even sit down. The view however was excellent - ours had a view down to the Venetian fortress. The air conditioner was noisy and the door seal was bad causing a lot of wind noise to enter even when closed but we had an otherwise quiet stay. From looking at the floor plan a suite would be the smallest room I would consider for a longer stay - I looked into one whilst it was being cleaned and it looked like a good size with a separated sitting area. The roof top bar was excellent, with very friendly staff and good (for the city) prices. The view was excellent, going across 270 degrees (at least) of the city including the entire seafront and ports. Breakfast was good with a small selection of hot items but plenty of unusual things to try including my favourite - four different kinds of syrup soaked fruits (similar to a glacé fruit). The staff were happy to store our luggage both before and after our stay and had a system of labelling against the room number which was a nice touch. Overall fine for what it provided and very good staff.
