Walking through the cobbled streets of Rhodes Old Town, we stumbled upon Archontiko and what a treasure it turned out to be! Nestled inside a beautifully restored medieval building from the time of the knights, this family-run taverna radiates warmth, history, and love. You feel it the moment you step in.
Everything about the space invites you in: the stone walls, wooden balconies, soft lighting, blooming plants, and the sounds of Greek folk music floating through the air. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, each spot echoing with the charm of the past and the care of those who keep it alive. The restaurant has been in the same family since 1994, and that legacy is honored with pride.
The food is everything you hope to find in Greece: Flavors rich with tradition, made with fresh local ingredients. In a town full of tourist traps serving frozen, soulless meals, Archontiko stands out as the real deal. Our congratulations to the amazing chef and team! Favorite picks: the eggplant salad, pitaroudia, spinach pie, moussaka, Dimitri’s salad. The wine selection is local and thoughtful, and Maria makes truly fantastic cocktails.
The service is what made it unforgettable. Genuine and respectful. Honest Greek hospitality. They welcomed us with open hearts, and that made all the difference.
Whether you come as a couple, a family, or with friends, Archontiko is a place that makes you feel at home even on your first visit. It’s a rare kind of place you want to return to again and again.

Read moreAlmost all the restaurants in the old town have someone at the door that pushes you to have dinner and check the menu. BUT in this one we found it strange, was no pushing but super friendly and helpful George whose concern was to tell us about the amazing Greek culture and story of the old town, even before he knew that we wanted to have dinner. The amazing story and old design of the restaurant is impressive, in this restaurant there is no need for pushing, the service is 5* and the place is to melt your heart with the quality of the food. We were a group of 4 people from Poland, Portugal, Holland and Serbia and you can believe me or not but they spoke every language, what an amazing skilled George. We were served by Stelious that made our experience complete and definitely the older gentleman that I can't remember the name, was the cherry on the top of our dinner with his jokes. It's a place that I will make sure I will come back and advice to all my friends who visit rodos. If you're in the old town this place is...
Read morewow, we had a lovely experience here, no pressure to come inside, the man outside welcomed us and after reading the menu we asked for a table and was seated, very friendly staff, polite and chatty, seem at ease around the restaurant and with eachother to, food was delicious and very well priced. Very beautiful decor inside - old stone walls, marble statues and plants, lovely greek music playing, feels authentic. not in your face pushy service and we were not rushed during our meal at all, we were told to take our time - unlike other places you feel they are trying to get you out as soon as possible for more customers. honestly we don’t undertand some of the negative reviews on here as we had a completly opposite experience. waiting staff very down to earth. we wish them all the best and will come back here if we ever holiday...
