It’s just amazing how a beautiful location can be managed this poorly. We actually came here upon a recommendation. We were sat (with one menu for 3 people) and waited for a good 15 minutes until we waved at someone to take our order. A gentleman came to the table to take the order who did not make an eye contact for one second. We wanted to order our son’s food to come first but not a chance. The food came as they were ready so not in an order or all together. We ordered ouzo and served ourselves when we were on our second drink we need ice and no one was there to provide any sort of service. The restaurant was busy obviously over the capacity of what they can handle. All staff was running around tables around us, tables were reconfiguring constantly. Our food came (28 minutes) and Greek salad with no flavor, octopus overcooked like plastic, zucchini softened in oil (needs to be crispy), toasted bread; cold and hard like a rock, seafood spaghetti tasted like made in a canned tomato sauce and the pasta was overcooked like waited too long in the sauce, all the seafood in it was overcooked, stuffed calamari was overstuffed with feta which made it super salty and flavorless, you just taste feta not calamari at all. We ordered like 7 food items just to experiment, but unfortunately none of them was on point. I wanted to ask for hot sauce or red pepper flakes but again NO SERVICE was provided whatsoever. I called a lady to see if we can talk to the manager and the person who took our order was apparently the manager and a part owner. I mentioned my concerns and he basically said this is not the type of restaurant that servers ask you questions and check on you or something. I said but you call this a “restaurant” a la carte, not fast food not self service? He frustratedly said sorry what can I do and came back with bill with drinks deleted. We didn’t ask for free stuff, we asked for SERVICE. We understand it’s busy season and it is a busy location but my suggestion is to manage the door and the seating better so your guests can get some sort of service. Make a waitlist, tell guests you’re busy and they have to wait for better service, it is OK and much better answer than “This is not that type of place”. Remember casual restaurant are opt to provide good service too. If you can’t have guests order from a cashier such as a fast food restaurant and just clear plates. Me and my husband are both in hospitality for over 25 years, we are foodies and have a slight idea about food and beverage. Please take this as a constructive comment because not only is the table behind and next to us felt the same...
Read moreI spotted this small restaurant mid-afternoon on my way to the nearby small supermarket during a recent 5-day stay in the Old Town. Very small and just one fellow having a late lunch. His meal arrived as I was looking at the menu, and it looked good indeed with generous portions. I decided to return that evening with my friend and it was full, but our timing was good as a family was just finishing-up and preparing to leave. Antoni, the owner and principal waiter, was so welcoming and obliging without being pushy. He agreed our choice of the Meze Platter was a good one, a selection of nine dishes shared between two people, and it was delicious and varied. The wine was good and well-priced too. We enjoyed it so much we returned two more times over the next two days - once for lunch, and once more for dinner. What a great...
Read moreDuring our holiday, my mother and I really enjoyed our time at Meltemi. The staff are very friendly and do everything to make sure you have a pleasant experience. The view of the sea is beautiful, and you can also use the sunbeds by the water, which is a nice touch.
We first came to this restaurant three years ago, and the food was so good that we decided to come back to Rhodes this year just to eat here again. The dishes are fresh, authentic, and well prepared. We ended up eating here quite often during our holiday because the combination of the lovely view and tasty food made it a place where you can truly relax and enjoy.
If you’re visiting Rhodes, I would definitely recommend stopping by Meltemi for a relaxed...
