Biked over here for a proper French breakfast experience. The place is very tiny, seating available for maybe 16 people. The interior is very rustic, and feels like you've walked into a bakery established a couple hundred years ago. The staff speaks a little English, so that helps foreigners quite a bit. You can choose to sit in and order from the menu or select any of the pastries and coffee to go. We opted to sit in for breakfast since we rented bikes and knew we could use a good breakfast before biking the city for the remainder of the day.
I ordered an iced coffee and œufs saumon for breakfast (poached eggs, salmon, hollandaise sauce and toasted brioche bread). See photos below, my breakfast was beautifully presented on a platter and was bigger than I expected, and for the price was quite the deal! The breakfast was served on two brioche toasts and came with a baby roquette salad with just a hint of sweet dressing. It was all very lovely. They have a very good quality salmon here and the egg was perfectly poached. The iced coffee was perfect. I ordered it with milk, no sugar, so I could enjoy the flavor of the coffee.
Overall this was a great experience, and certainly worth stopping for breakfast. I will be taking a pistachio croissant to go, as the pastries here look properly French (flaky, butter, and probably packed with too many calories for the normal person, but hey, you only live once!). Eat well...

A middle of the road three stars. Those lauding as ‘the best breakfast in Budapest’ clearly need to get out more and try other places as this does not fit into the ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’ category. It falls squarely into the ‘good’ and perfectly acceptable for a quick ‘continental breakfast’ on the go.
A space is limited so I wouldn’t recommend it for a coffee morning and long chat. Enter, order, eat and leave.
Food: French style bakery breakfast spot
What I liked:
• Friendly service • Very good coffee • Nice presentation • Passable pain au chocolat
What I didn’t like:
• A bit grubby but not to the point of being concerned about hygiene • Need more staff than just one lady preparing and serving both dine in and take out customers
Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value?...
Read moreHonestly the millefeuille was good. But I don't understand the demeaning look on the face of the waitress when I asked if it's from today. It's my right to ask. She acted so surprised and was really unfriendly throughout the whole order, as if she's doing me a favour. Very antipathetic. What baffled me more was her reaction when I added one more piece of cake, she had to change the box and apparently that caused her so much trouble. Very lazy and unfriendly. Other than the tasty millefeuille, the caramel pie and the eclair were simply inedible. I don't recommend especially because of the...
