It is BLASPHEMY how they cooked this lamb… for shame that they would cook lamb well done. (I had ordered the baby lamb ribs with the steak fried and it comes with sautéed veggies with a balsamic glaze.) I told them that I could not eat this because you just don’t eat lamb well done, it’s a disservice to the animal and it most certainly died in vain. I sent it back, and of course I am 98.5% sure they just let my plate sit in the kitchen and brought back out the same one because it was STILL overcooked, which was really sad to realize that in a Greek restaurant they would disrespect lamb like that. I ended up staying with the plate because I realized that they obviously do not know how to cook lamb and my fiancé had already finished his dish. So, I finished my food, then when the server came I picked up on the fact that he arrogantly grabbed my plate as if to say with his body language “hm, looks like you liked it enough to actually eat it all.” No sir, you are mistaken, I didn’t eat it all because I liked it, I ate it all because for one, I was hungry and already at the establishment and two, I was going to pay for it, and I do not waste food no matter how abysmal it was prepared. The pork souvlaki that my fiancé had was cooked perfectly though, and we enjoyed the calamari, and the restaurant was clean, so not a total loss. Also this is such a wonderful teachable moment, lamb ribs should be cooked at a temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit(cause I know you use Celsius here) for 6 minutes TOTAL, NOT at 400 degrees for 6 mins on each side. This honestly could have been delicious, had you asked me what temperature I would have liked for it to have been cooked the SECOND time, goes to that should have been the first red flag when the waiter never asked at what temperature I would like my lamb...
Read moreGreek tragedy! Do not fall into this tourist trap! This was by far the worst restaurant we went to in Budapest! All the critiques we read in the other Google reviews are true: cheap food sold for a much too high price. The use of obviously frozen preprepared meals, bland meals spiced up with salt, slow service, etc etc.
With regards to the service, one positive point as to child friendliness. They had a high chair and were really nice to us and our toddler. However with regards to the fast service, there simply was none. There were maybe three or four tables in total that were occupied, after we had ordered our appetizers it must have taken them over 30 minutes to bring them.
As appetizers we got the four mix mezze, the mussels with mustard, the grilled paprika (came from a jar). The waiter told us we should order bread with that as it was not included. Later we find out on the bill that it was three portions of bread. I find it very strange that the bread was not included....
Main course, after another long wait, we received the muzaka (was still cold in the middle when first arrived at our table, had to bring it back to the kitchen), the spicy meatballs (4 sad bland meatballs with a little artificial mashed potatoes and tomato sauce) and the squid (4 small squids, the salad that came with it was just salad cucumber and tomatoes, there could have been feta, olives or other creative deliciousness but no...).
All in all, very pricey for Budapest (90€ total without alcohol, probably our most expensive restaurant) and definitely not worth it. The waiter saw that we didn't finish, asked us if it wasn't good and we said well it was frozen and not fresh so not really ... He swore it was all made fresh in the morning and lied through his teeth. An extra absolute...
Read moreAt first, was excited to find this place; I love Mythos beer and greek food. The experience was rather poor. We ordered 3 plates of appetizers and 2 mains and all five plates were brought to the table at the same time. We didn’t really mind that at first, mistakes happen, but then again, it bothered me a bit once we got to the mains and the food was no longer warm.
We ordered the STUFFED duck breast that was supposed to be stuffed with Greek cheese and dried tomatoes. The duck came sliced into strips and crisped. Not stuffed. Not a whole piece of breast with the skin on. Nothing like we imagined.
I asked our server why the duck is not stuffed and is in strip form, he mumbled a bit at first and then told us that the menu has changed and the chef decides whether or not to send the duck stuffed or not. But he assured us that it tastes the same.
I couldn’t stop smiling at the situation. If you mess up our order, at least have the curtsy to tell us you messed up our order.
Lastly, we ordered the kebab, and at the end of our meal, we realized we didnt get the tzatziki that was supposed to come with the kebab. Imagine going to a greek restaurant and not having the tzatziki!
Not to mention that the wrong food was brought to our table at first, and we had to stop and tell them it was the wrong food.
I’m a Chef. It takes a lot more than mediocre to impress me. One star deducted for each mistake, I’m sadly leaving a one star review. The sad thing was that it seemed like a restaurant with great potential. The owner definitely seemed to care and he expressed his concern once he saw all the food coming to our table at once. Maybe with a change in kitchen leadership, and with more of a disciplined presence on the floor, you guys can turn things...
