Baraka Restaurant — Restaurant in Budapest

I wish i could give 10/5! It was a fantastic experience! Nowhere in the world I had such creative cocktails before! The food was heavenly, the artistic plates were surreal! The staff is very polite and they are enjoying their work what shows of in a continious smile and a sincere intresse in their guests. When we asked for the bill we had troubles with our creditcard and were unable to pay. We were very embarresed and wanted to take a taxi to the appartment to pick up an other card. The boss insisted that he himseld could give us a ride. Never before I have met such a gentle and warming man! He took the time to drive us arround the city (he even had to hire a car to do so)! He and the memorie of his restaurant will be rembered my whole life! I wish him, his family and his team lots of love and succes! OK so this review needs to be split between the bar and restaurant. The bar was outstanding, serving some very modern and innovative cocktails, they also made great classics and the service was impeccable. I wish I could say the same for the restaurant. While the food was beautiful and quite tasty, there was a disconnect between the kitchen and servers, which resulted in an hour plus wait between courses. It wasn't just our table but included a lot of other guests looking around at the 10+ wait staff anxiously anticipating food. What made matters worse was that the owner came over and instead of acknowledging the delay filled the void by relaying her renovation hopes for the restaurant. We had the seven-course Degustation menu, and it was exquisite. They asked us to chose between a couple of items and we went for all the Hungarian options (Goose Food Gras and Sirloin Deer). The food, service and presentation are all top notch. I know it is only recommended by Michelin, but it definitely deserves a star or two. The decor is classy and simple with a very relaxing ambiance.

Finally, two exceptional things about it: For the quality of food and sophistication of dishes it is very affordable. You pay at least half if not less of what you pay at an equivalent restaurant in NY or DC for a degustation menu. For where it stands, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly.
