Best food we ate in Budapest!

It was on Valentine‘s Day 2024 when my boyfriend and I were searching for a place to go eat to and passed by this restaurant.

At first, it wasn’t really appealing from the outside but he convinced me to eat there since eating on a boat is not an everyday chance you get. The inside was very romantic and I loved that it had a dark vibe to it, it felt really comforting. We decided to get the BBQ Chicken Fladbread and Chicken Pasta. Long story short, we both enjoyed the Fladbread and got another one after, it was FABULOUS and very delicious, I wish I knew how to remake it at home, we unfortunately were only there as tourists. The service was just right, they let their customers have their space & eat in peace, I love when waiters only come to you when you raise your hand to order more.

Honestly, it was the best Valentine‘s Day and the most romantic dinner you could ever imagine. We would love to come back next Valentine‘s and would be very happy if the BBQ Chicken Fladbread would still be on the Menu until then. I also first wanted pizza but their menu is seasonal - that’s why I really hope the Fladbread would still be on the menu until we come back!! Best...

We came as a group of six from France for a stay in Budapest and accidentally discovered this incredible place on the banks of the Danube, offering an absolutely stunning view! 🌅

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm welcome and the cozy, friendly atmosphere. The cocktails were beautifully presented, with elegant decorations and perfectly balanced flavors 🍹. Tempted by such a great start, we decided to have dinner here… and what an amazing surprise! The dishes were refined, flavorful, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients – simply delicious from start to finish.

The evening was just perfect. A huge thank you to Réka and Bogi, the talented barmaids, for their incredible skills, to Marko, the manager, for guiding us through many local specialties, and to Regi, for her impeccable service and contagious good vibes.

Our visit to BOATanic restaurant was a good experience in many ways. The open upper terrace offers simply spectacular views of the Buda Castle and we were lucky to be seated right next to the railing, which made the afternoon even more special. The atmosphere on board is relaxed yet stylish, with a panoramic setting. The goulash soup was delicious and full of meat. I tried the Hungarian cottage cheese dumpling (túrógombóc) for dessert, it wasn’t very sweet, but I still finished every bite. The cocktails felt somewhat pricey, but they were well made and generous with the alcohol, which we appreciated. The service was generally kind and helpful, although there were moments where it could have been a little more attentive. Overall, the view alone is worth the visit, and the food and cocktails round out a very enjoyable experience. We left satisfied, happy and I would recommend...
