Fire Étterem — Restaurant in Budapest

Arrived, friendly greeting although entrance was slightly hidden I thought. Not busy (we went at 19:00). Bathrooms were also hidden, took a little adventure to get to them. Drinks were very pretty, tasty to a degree, lots of lemon and lime in the cup so quite seedy. Fancy ice though and nice plastic straws.

The scenery was very pretty, and it was well layed out. But they blasted rave music the whole time, with speakers everywhere. Very out of place. Kind of ruined the experience for us who were looking for a romantic dinner with a view.

Limited menu choice. Got an Angus burger with cheese and loaded nachos. Tried to get desert and told two of the the three options were unavailable so decided not to get any. Brought out main and starter at the same time, bit odd but oh well. They got the nachos wrong and so took them back to be remade which took longer than our main to eat. Burger fell apart while eating although the patty itself was nice and juicy. It came with chips but they were like shells and very few in quantity. The small portion of nachos was very large it turns out as well.

When paying we got some hidden fees such as 900 huf for our ketchup which was implied to be included by the waiter as there want a price or option for ketchup in the sauces section of the menu. Service fee was a non optional 15% on top as well. In total came out to be 18,500 for 2 burgers, 2 drinks and nachos.

Overall, would’ve gone somewhere else. Not dreadful but overpriced for the quality and quantity and not really what we were expecting or looking for.

Let me tell you something about Fire. Once going fown the stairs, the vibe of the staff was there. ✨️ROBERT✨️ has welcomed and accomodate us with a huge smile that he kept for the rest. And since I am here, Robert is suuuuch a lovely person. He made sure we are comfortable, no peer pressure on ordering, just be in our own pace. After drinks and food he asked how did we enjoy everything and checked up if we need something else, again, no pressure and recommendations on what I generally like. 2 cocktails and a local beer for the drinks - since beer ia beer, I am going to talk about the cocktails: frozen mango daiquri 10/10 has the pass, caramel martini 10/10 dor thw first time has the pass. Food? Quick. Delicious. Fresh. Perfect. Highly recommend this place. Sending huge hugs...

Rude staff that intentionally tries to scam you by making it difficult to avoid tipping. They try to convince you that a 10% tip is actually yet another service fee that is "mandatory" in Budapest, even though there are already two of them on the bill for food and drinks. When you ask about the bill they will intentionally interrupt you. Music levels are really loud.

Prices are extremely high for the food you get. We also had to wait over 35 minutes for two simple dishes, being the only ones at the restaurant that had ordered food at the time. Staff really doesn't seem to care at all.
