We had a 20:30 reservation and were greeted with no host and no one in sight until we gave up and walked into the bar where the bartender was watching us not be helped… We were sat, but not given menus for several minutes. When we finally did order, the server weirdly seemed reluctant to take our order for the seasonal vegetables, but we didn’t think much of it. The cocktail was great and the chicken and waffles were great. The guacamole was marred by very stale and super oversalted tortilla chips. Before our mains arrived, we were told by our server that the kitchen was closing. A few minutes later, we were served our filets (main course), except we weren’t given any silverware, although it was noted we didn’t have any. We waited 5 minutes while our meat cooked in front of us and our server served other guests before getting up from the table to request silverware from the bartender and other server, who simply gestured towards our server, who suddenly came up with silverware. Upon dropping off the silverware, we asked when our seasonal vegetable dish would arrive, and the server apologized and hurried back to the open kitchen, that was obviously closed. We then heard epic slamming and crashing while the obviously angry chef prepared three pieces of broccoli in a sea of sliced nuts and orzo… Meanwhile we were trying to saw into our steaks with the dullest steak knives in the EU, when we realized that although we had both ordered the filet (tenderloin), we had received two different cuts of meat! One was a tenderloin and one appeared to be a short rib… At this point, we just gave up and ate the food served to us and left…. And yes, were charged for two filets….

Needless to say, we...

We ate here on Saturday 31st of May..... We were seated and after 10 minutes asked what we would like to drink...(A LONG TIME) They bought the drinks but not the side plates and knives and forks like they did with everyone else...OK...strange. We were eventually asked what we would like to order....so we gave them our order. The starter came after around 20 minutes..ish...(still no cutlery). Then a large table sat behind us around 10 people or so..... So we were sitting waiting for our main course (2 people..my wife and i) we had waited about 45 minutes and suddenly all of the large tables food had arrived !! WE WERE STILL WAITING....2 PEOPLE. So i looked at the head waiter and shrugged my shoulders...he knew exactly what that meant as 3 minutes later our food arrived....the young VERY NICE AND ATTENTIVE waiter asked if we needed anything else...to which I replied..Knives and forks please.....Yes of course he said embarrassed!! The food was FANTASTIC WHEN IT ARRIVED!! When we finished he asked me if everything was OK...to which I replied do you want me to lie or tell the truth? He asked for the truth...he understood and obviously knew the problem.....he was embarrassed and offered me a 10% discount... he also told me they were SERIOUSLY UNDERSTAFFED!! Would it go back??.....No!! Would i recommend the place ...?? The food yes!!! I hope the review helps customers and the...

We were really looking forward to dining at Flava during our trip to Budapest, but unfortunately, the experience fell short on multiple fronts.

From the moment we arrived, the service felt cold and distant. We couldn’t help but wonder if this was because the three of us were Indian, as the level of attentiveness and warmth we saw extended to other tables just wasn’t there for us.

Another odd aspect was that our appetisers and main courses were brought out together — something we’ve never experienced at a supposedly upscale restaurant. It felt rushed and poorly coordinated, taking away from what should have been a leisurely dining experience.

When we asked the waiter a simple question about the type of grape used in our wine, the only answer we got was “Hungarian grape” — a vague and unhelpful response that showed a surprising lack of knowledge for a restaurant with a sophisticated wine list.

Overall, while the food itself was decent, the service and attention to detail left us disappointed. We wouldn’t return, nor would we recommend Flava to others looking for a welcoming and well-run dining experience...

Flava Kitchen & More is located in the heart of historic Budapest (Pest) in the 5th district. It's a hip place where younger people and others come together to enjoy life and really good food. When we were there (for a dinner at Saturday) a DJ made very good live chill music fitting to the dinner. The interior is very nice with the idea of a green room (like a green- or palmhouse). The staff is very relaxed, professional and accommodating. The food is inspired by different worldwild styles and the quality is really high. They offer for example fresh made hummus, guacamole or goulash soup, fantastic steaks and fish dishes or fresh made tiramisu and babka. The wine and cocktail menue is comprehensive. Over all a very nice restaurant visited by people from Budapest and by city visitors with really good food and a very relaxed atmosphere. The prices are absolutly adequate. The recommendation of the Guide Michelin is applicable. Anytime again.

We should have walked out 2 minutes of arrival. The hostess who seated gave us a bad vibe that she didn't want us there. The place was empty at prime dinner time, 7pm, which should have told us something. The hostess offered us 2 choices for seating this evening, inside or outside in the smoking section (we don't smoke), & there was a plethora of outdoor seating available. Our waiter, however, was very pleasant and the food was really good. As my friend asked a question about the liquor bottles on the bar, as we were leaving, I was watching the hostess, as she rolled her eyes. She is not the type of person who should be greeting people. She was unwelcoming and not tourist friendly. I would rate her as a 1 star, but gave the service a 3 star due to our waiter that deserves a 4 star.

We only had drinks, so I can't speak to the food itself. We had a Breakfast Martini and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was okay, but nothing special and rather small for 4500 HUF. The Breakfast Martini wasn't to either of our likings, but perhaps it's just not the drink for us. The service was excellent — I'd expect nothing less with a compulsory 15% service fee (the maximum allowed). Even chilled, filtered water was provided without charge, and they brought water for our dog. (Dog friendly places are the best!) The atmosphere is nice, and although we probably won't return, it's a place I could see recommending to people looking for a fancy brunch at fancy prices with good service.
