Overall, I'd say the food and service here is good. The one caveat I must qualify this with is that most of what we were served is not the same as what you would find in a traditional Japanese restaurant. It's the Chinese version of Japanese food.
The miso ramen I was served was very tasty and enjoyable, but I am sure no Japanese person would consider it real ramen. The noodles were just wrong, and reminded me of thin spaghetti out of a box. The cha-su (barbecued pork) used in the ramen was actually pretty good.
The breaded fried shrimp curry rice my wife ordered was much closer to what real Japanese curry tastes like, although it is what you'd get from the packaged "curry rue" you buy in the supermarket, and not the "homemade" curry taste you usually find in a curry restaurant in Japan. But again, it was still quite good.
I liked their version of gyoza, and again, it's very different from any gyoza you'd find in Japan. First, the dumplings were deep fried, not pan fried. Second, they were served with drizzles of two sauces on top, along with a small dish of ponzu for dipping. Also the filling was not the traditional ground pork with chives and ginger. All very nice, just different.
Service could have been a bit better. The (English speaking) servers were good, but my wife's shrimp curry rice was served about ten minutes before my ramen arrived, and the restaurant was not busy. Not good.
Bottom line, if you come here with no expectation of traditional Japanese food, you'll probably enjoy the meal. The ramen, shrimp curry rice, gyoza and two small Asahi beers totaled just north of 15,000 forints, including...
Read moreNot recommended - Sunday (2.6.2024) - Normally I never left the date when I review a place but today I had a very negative experience here so I had to do so hopefully the owner can read this. Me and my family entered and order our food at around 20:30, we order 5 main dishes for 5 people and takoyaki. The waitress wrote down the food and even read throught it again to confirm it with us. Yet, they only brought up the food for 3 out of 5 people. My parents who was very tired and hungry at that time, had to wait 45 minutes for just 2 bowls of ramen. I came downstairs to ask about their food and the takoyaki, it turned out that the waitress forgot about our food and said that she forgot to enter those dishes into the machine (that was what they said to us). At the end, my parents finally got their ramen it was underwhelming. We received just a simple ‘sorry’ from the staff and got no discount for the experience that ruined...
