Intermezzo Roof Terrace — Restaurant in Budapest

The view is amazing and the cocktails were quite tasty however the service is appalling. We had reserved a table for a Saturday evening so you might expect that there would be more than two waiters and one hostess for one of the busiest nights of the week. The hostess did exactly her job, i.e. taking people to their tables and giving out menus. Nothing else. Even if nobody came in for 20 mins she wouldn’t assist the waiters.

After our first drink, we tried to catch the attention of a waiter for 10-15 mins. Eventually, I walked to the bar and asked the waiter standing there if we could order another round and he said he would be right there. Another 20 mins passed before we managed to flag down his colleague to take our order. She was friendly but clearly overrun. It then took another 15-20 mins for the drinks to arrive. I know ordering 6 cocktails means you may have to wait a while for them to be made as opposed to ordering 6 beers but maybe they should have more staff on since they have a large cocktail menu and people come to a rooftop bar for summery cocktails.

The original waiter who told us he would be over to our table never came near us, I think he completely forgot. In the time that we waited, we could have ordered and drank another round so they lost out on money from a round of 6 cocktails by making us...

Booked it as our last meal in Budapest before we went home, very hard to find as they don’t mention that it’s not like a typical restaurant; it’s at the rooftop of a hotel and you have to be lucky enough to get in the lift with a guest of the hotel for the lift to work, however the second lift on the 5th floor doesn’t need a key card. We felt like we were ignored by the staff for most of the night as I had to go up to the bar to order drinks and also food even though they weren’t particularly busy and they had 3 people waiting on but only one seemed to do anything the whole night (she later had to take our complaint which I felt bad for). The food selection is limited and the chicken was very dry- I got the burger and bread was nearly stale so I only ate the chips as the filling of the burger was bland.

We were refunded for the food which was kind of them and I appreciated it- amazing views from that side of the city especially if you see the sun go down. Great place for drinks however like I said the food is limited, this place has lots of potential so don’t take my review too literally if you read this in half a years time, I’m sure...

The place is located on the terrace of President Hotel. Firstly, don't forget to approach to reception and get the access card for the elevator. The atmosphere was pretty nice. But the view was top-notch. It's something you have to see. However, I'm not sure about the service tho. We reserved the place 5 days ago and when we arrive they checked the name on the list but the waitress seemed a bit suprised. I should accept that we were late about 6 7 minutes but in the website it's clearly mentioned that "we will keep your seat for 15 minutes". So didn't get the point. We were two but they seated us at some table which is in middle of terrace. Which was awkard. I reached out the other waiter and asked for seat change immediately, as I mentioned that we want to be close to the view. After 20 mins waiting they finally find a table we passed there. We ordered only 2 cocktails, the service was pretty fast. Cocktails are quite alright. And btw, whoever designed the menu just please stop doing, go find another job.
