Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)

Review:

I recently visited Cafe Military and had a mixed experience, hence my 3-star rating. Here are my thoughts:

Food: The menu at Cafe Military is diverse, offering a variety of dishes. I tried the Chicken Biryani and the Mutton Kheema Pav. The Chicken Biryani had a good flavor profile, with aromatic spices and well-cooked chicken. However, it was a bit too greasy for my taste, and the rice was slightly overcooked. The Mutton Kheema Pav was delicious, with the mutton being tender and flavorful, but the pav was a little stale, which took away from the overall enjoyment of the dish.

Drinks: The drinks menu has a decent selection of beverages. I ordered a Masala Chai and a Cold Coffee. The Masala Chai was quite good, with the right balance of spices and sweetness, making it a comforting choice. On the other hand, the Cold Coffee was underwhelming. It lacked the richness and creaminess I was expecting, and the coffee flavor was too mild.

Service: The service at Cafe Military was satisfactory. The staff were polite and attentive, but the food took longer to arrive than expected. This could be improved to enhance the overall dining experience.

Ambiance: The ambiance is one of the highlights of Cafe Military. It has a rustic charm with its vintage decor and cozy seating arrangements. It's a great place to hang out with friends or have a casual meal.

Value for Money: Considering the quality of the food and drinks, the prices are a bit on the higher side. While some dishes are worth the price, others don't quite justify the cost, making it an average value for money overall.

Conclusion: Cafe Military has a lot of potential with its charming ambiance and diverse menu. However, there are areas that need improvement, particularly the consistency in food quality and drink preparation. It's a decent place to visit if you're in the area, but it might not be the first choice for everyone.

I hope this review is helpful for other potential visitors and for the cafe to consider...

I had high expectations from Café Military, especially being a heritage Parsi restaurant in Colaba, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing.

First of all, there is no parking facility nearby. The café is located deep inside narrow lanes, making it quite inconvenient unless you’re very familiar with the area. Finding a place to park and walking all the way was a hassle.

One major drawback is that they do not accept card or UPI payments — only cash, which is very surprising and inconvenient in today’s digital world.

Coming to the food and service — the restaurant wasn’t even crowded (only a few tables were occupied), but the service was unusually slow. We ordered a variety of dishes: • Chicken Keema Pav • A Wednesday special chicken fry with veggies (don’t recall the exact name) • Plain omelette, masala omelette, Anda Bhurji, and tea

Sadly, none of the dishes really stood out. The food was below expectations, especially for a place known for its legacy. And the tea — it tasted like instant tea, which was a big letdown. I was looking forward to a comforting, traditional Parsi meal, but the whole experience just didn’t live up to the hype.

On the plus side, they do serve beer, which may appeal to some, but overall, this visit left me disappointed. Would recommend carrying cash if you’re planning to visit — and lowering your...

Cafe Military: A Taste of History in Colaba Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cafe Military in Colaba Fort, Mumbai, is a hidden gem that transports you back in time. With its vintage decor and authentic Parsi cuisine, it's a must-visit for foodies and history enthusiasts. What I Loved: Nostalgic Ambiance: The cafe's interior is a delightful blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. The vintage furniture, framed photographs, and military memorabilia create a unique atmosphere. Authentic Parsi Cuisine: The menu features classic Parsi dishes that are simply delicious. The Kheema Pav, Bhurjiya, and Chicken Farcha are must-tries. The flavors are rich, aromatic, and truly authentic. Friendly Service: The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. They are knowledgeable about the menu and happy to recommend dishes based on your preferences. A Few Tips:

Cash Only: Please note that Cafe Military only accepts cash payments. If you're looking for a unique dining experience in Mumbai, Cafe Military is a must-visit. It's a place where you can savor delicious food, soak in history, and create lasting memories.

Our all time favorite is Kheema Pav, although with time and popularity they have reduced the quantity...

This establishment boasts about the worst Keema Gotala I've ever endured – a saltless ordeal laced with a disappointing lack of character. Despite the hype surrounding its vintage charm and beer service, my experience here was dismal. The Instagram reels that bombarded me with how awesome this place is were a complete exaggeration. The smoked mutton gravy priced at a staggering 290 Rs for a mere two half-moon potatoes & mutton that looked like it had endured 55 minutes of scolding in a grumpy school principal's office, were a chewy and shrunken affair. The oversalted gravy seemed to want to compensate for the horrible Keema Gotala that had no distinctive flavour and tasted like a mess and a generic mash. Their parsi style chicken kebabs, usually a delight, were drier than the Kalahari desert's weather system. To exacerbate matters, the establishment only accepts cash, forcing a trek to the ATM in Mumbai’s harsh heat. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. I'd prefer slathering cheese on bread at home, watching plants grow, than reliving the mistake of dining at this overpriced, overhyped place. Now this is a memory I wish the neuralizer device from Men in Black could definitively erase.
