🌟 Burma Burma, Fort – Beautiful Food, Disappointing Service Start

While the food and drinks at Burma Burma impressed across the board, the initial service experience left a bad taste.

When I arrived, I requested a sofa seat. Despite several tables being empty, I was told all sofa seats were reserved. They then seated me directly in front of the entrance, where I had to deal with constant foot traffic. I requested to move to a quieter corner inside, but again was told the seat was reserved. Minutes later, another guest was seated there without hesitation. This partial and dismissive behaviour by the steward was unprofessional and superficial. They did rectify it when I raised the issue—but this kind of experience in a premium space is unacceptable.

⸻

👥 Service Interactions • Cold and inflexible at first, corrected only after being called out. • The tone felt more mechanical than warm—not what you expect from a space this refined. • The saving grace: the food and drinks eventually did bring the mood back up.

⸻

🍽️ What I Ordered & Mini Reviews

🧋 Bubble Tea – Mango Raspberry Chilli

A brilliant burst of flavours—sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy. The bubbles had great texture, and the chilli heat was subtle yet exciting.

🫕 Tangi Chickpea & Tofu

Delightfully umami-forward. The tofu was soft, chickpeas well-cooked, and the tanginess balanced the richness. A comforting and filling dish.

🍜 Uncle Maung’s Spicy Chilli Noodles

Slurpy, spicy, and deeply satisfying. The noodles were cooked just right, and the chilli hit was bold but not overpowering.

🧉 Elderflower Kombucha

Crisp and floral—light on the palate with a clean finish. A refreshing pairing with the richer dishes.

🧊 Iced Tea

Cool and calming. Not overly sweet, with a nice balance of tea flavour and citrus notes.

🥟 Grilled Baos

The only disappointment. While the concept is great, the baos were dry and lacked punch in the filling. Compared to everything else, this one fell flat.

⸻

💬 Final Food Feel

Aside from the grilled baos, everything was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted. The layers of flavour in each item really showcased the Burmese inspiration in a modern way.

⸻

✅ Final Verdict

Burma Burma delivers beautifully on the plate and in the glass, but needs to up its hospitality game—especially at the Fort location. What could have been a flawless dining experience was tarnished by partial service and superficial seating policies. That said, the food is worth returning for, and hopefully, next time the service matches the...

Title: A Vegetarian Haven: Burma Burma Review

Burma Burma stands as a testament to the rich tapestry of vegetarian cuisine, offering a remarkable dining experience that celebrates the flavors of Burma in all their authenticity.

As a connoisseur of diverse cuisines, I found myself enraptured by the exceptional offerings at Burma Burma. Dispensing with fusion, the restaurant focuses solely on the traditional vegetarian fare of Burma, delivering an unparalleled gastronomic journey.

Upon entering, the ambiance enveloped me in a sense of tranquility, setting the stage for a memorable culinary exploration. The menu, steeped in Burmese culinary traditions, promised an adventure through the flavors and aromas of the region.

The starters, a tantalizing array of authentic Burmese delights, were a revelation to the senses. From the crisp golden parcels of stuffed samosas to the vibrant bursts of flavor in the tea leaf salads, each dish spoke volumes of Burma's culinary heritage.

Moving on to the main course, I was met with a symphony of flavors that transported me to the streets of Burma. The Khao Suey, with its rich coconut broth and intricate toppings, offered a comforting embrace, while the Shan-style noodles captivated with their simplicity and depth of flavor.

To accompany the meal, the drinks menu featured an enticing selection of beverages, from refreshing mocktails to traditional Burmese teas. Each sip complemented the bold flavors of the dishes, enhancing the dining experience.

In conclusion, Burma Burma offers a culinary journey like no other, showcasing the authentic flavors of Burma in all their glory. Whether you're a devoted vegetarian or simply seeking an exceptional dining experience, Burma Burma promises to delight and captivate with its dedication to tradition and excellence. Highly recommended for anyone craving an authentic taste of Burma's...

We went to Burma Burma on a Saturday afternoon and managed to get one of the last vacant tables available. After us, there were at least 3-4 families waiting to be seated. This itself gives you a hint at the good food to come. To be honest, we wouldn't have voluntarily visited Burma Burma if not for the meal voucher we won image contest, the only reason being that it's a pure vegetarian restaurant and we regard ourselves as hardcore non-vegetarian.

Anyway, moving on to the food we ordered, we started of with a Yuzu Bubble tea since we didn't want to have one with milk in it and this was the only option without it. The drink was nice. But the actual balls itself was a little too sweet for my liking.

After this came the raw mango salad. Spoiler alert - this was our favourite dish from all that we tried. something about the peanut flavour with the raw mango kept us coming back to this plate for another helping.

The Oh no Khousuey was good but not great. Definitely not the best we've eaten. The Burma Asparagus stir fry was average, I'd skip this one if at all there is a the next time. The sticky rice with onion and red chilli filling was really good. Would love to try this with some of the other varieties of fillings available on their menu.

Lastly, for dessert we had the avocado ice cream with honey caviar. The ice cream itself was amazing, rich flavour, creamy texture. Would have finished another whole portion easily. The honey caviar was alright, not such a strong taste of honey but in my opinion it's a good thing. It would have over powered the taste of the ice cream.

All in all, I'd say it was an excellent meal and at approximately 1300 per person including taxes, it's definitely worth it for the great food (taste as well as presentation), the ambience and the desserts. On a side note, they also sell some of the products they...
